Ohaji/Egbema People Host Her Illustrious Son, Engr. Eze Victor Ugochukwu amidst Pomp

By DESTINY Isinwa

History was made in the social setting of Ohaji/Egbema Local Government on Wednesday 26th March as well meaning people of the council and well wishers of distinguished compatriot, Engr. Eze Victor Ugochukwu gathered at the exclusive dinner hall of Grand Palazzo Hotel Owerri to mark the homecoming of this noble man (Engr. Eze Victor) who has indeed distinguished himself in all ramifications.

Engr. Eze Victor Ugochukwu

It was a gathering of selected progressive minds courtesy of a non political actor from Ochia autonomous community in Ohaji/Egbema, Nze Ernest Onyekachi Abiaziem who could be better described as a resilient freedom fighter who besieged Engr. Eze Victor with unnotified desirable Home Coming Reception that had timbers and calibers of Ohaji/Egbema in attendance like the Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, the National President of National Congress of Ohaji Youth (NACOY), Comr. Tochi Nicholas and too many personalities yet to mention.

Nze Onyekachi Abiaziem who initiated and bankrolled the Home Coming Reception of his brother, hails from Umuogwa village in Ochia community while his friend and brother Engr. Eze Victor is from Umuokuzu village in the same Ochia community. These refined industrious sons of Awarra Court Area were schoolmates and best friends but met physically last in the year 2003 when their relationship was rekindled. This noble men lost each other’s contacts until the year 2013 when divine providence hucked them through social media where they met again. Social media afforded them another fantastic moment for reunion in the year 2013 which was indeed an excellent opportunity for a refresh memory of each other, exchange of contacts and disclosure of their visions towards emancipation of their Ochia Community.

As they returned to their separate base in abroad, the sustained their genuine love for each other. The fullness of Eze Victor doggedness in struggle came into manifestation in 2023 when Nze Ernest Onyekachi Abiaziem initiated him (Engr. Eze Victor) into Ochia Liberation Movement that was a gathering of able men and women with guts and audacity to question identified cabals responsible for the syphoning or better still say the embezzlement of Ochia community funds mapped for community development and other amenities supposedly for Ochia and her people.

The involvement of great minds like Engr. Eze Victor Ugochukwu into the struggle to muscle Ochia out from the hands of alleged community cannibals emerged as embodiment of hope, strength and a united movement. Hence Engr. Eze Ugochukwu Victor in his usual noiseless nature, pleaded anonymous in the movement but it could be better say that only Nze Ernest Abiazem remained in super position to testify the indelible efforts of Engr. Eze Victor in the struggle that gave birth to the numerous achievements and development in Ochia presently especially as a result of the liberation movement.

This was a struggle seemed by many as a structure to witch-hunts some stakeholders but like Nze Ernest Abiaziem would always say, that his singular mission is to liberate his people and the oil companies host community(Ochia) from the hands of individuals that have formed fraternity and determined to continue impoverishing Ochia community through the conscienceless usage of the Ochia Community funds for self and their family growths.

Ernest Abiaziem whom till this moment is out of the country, shocked his friend with a splendid Welcome Home Reception devoid of political nomenclature, which has not happened before in the history of Ohaji/Egbema. He invited not less than 50 well-to-do figures at the exclusive hall of Grand Palazzo Hotel Owerri, catered for the all-you-cared dinner outing just to tell his friend welcome to your State, thank you for excellent community services through your Eze Victor Helping Hands Initiative, thank you for being parts of financiers and mobilizers of the movement for liberation of Ochia Community, thank you for being a trusted ally and thanks for being a worthy friend and he honoured him with an award that symbolized what a friend should be.

In a fabulous tribute delivered by Nze Ernest Abiaziem to his friend as titled “open letter of recognition of a brother and friend, Eze Ugochukwu victor” the letter held that” With profound respect and deep admiration, I write this letter to honor a distinguished leader, Eze
Ugochukwu Victor Eze, Founder of the Eze Victor Helping Hands Initiative and Chief Executive Director of Brickwood Ltd. A man whose unwavering dedication, resilience, and selfless service have shaped the trajectory of our community. His commitment to justice, democracy and integrity has remained unshaken even in the face of adversity. His leadership, philanthropy, and sense of duty have left an indelible mark on the lives of many. He is a pillar of strength to the Ochia Oil Kingdom, a beacon of hope to Awarra Court Area, and a formidable force in the progress of Ohaji/Egbema as a whole.”

“I have not just gathered us here for merriment, pomp, or pageantry. This is not just another event for feasting and departure. I am here to celebrate a man who has distinguished himself, a man whose impact echoes beyond borders, whose works speak volumes, and whose legacy continues to inspire generations. Eze Ugochukwu Victor is not just a name; he is a movement, a force that has driven transformation, uplifted the downtrodden, and ignited hope where despair once reigned. His contributions are audible to the deaf and visible to the blind.Through his unyielding determination and philanthropic spirit, he has illuminated the paths of many,
particularly the youth, equipping them with opportunities for a better future. His commitment to community development, peacebuilding, and social justice has set a standard that many aspire to emulate.”

“Today, I do not only celebrate him; I reaffirm my unwavering support for his mission and vision. Our journey has not been devoid of challenges, setbacks, and differences, yet through it all, we have
stood firm, bound by a common purpose—the relentless pursuit of a better and more unified community. While we share common struggles, we also acknowledge our differences. However,
these differences have never been divisive; rather, they have sharpened our perspectives, strengthened our resolve, and reinforced our collective aspirations.
One of the most remarkable traits that define Eze Ugochukwu Victor is his deeply humane and humanity-driven religious nature. His faith is not just a belief—it is a way of life, guiding his actions and shaping his decisions. His ability to approach issues with wisdom, diplomacy, and an open heart
makes him a leader whose influence transcends personal interest and political ambition.”

“Beyond spirituality, he is also a master of diplomacy, a tactful political mind, and a leader with foresight. His pragmatic approach to leadership, combined with his ability to navigate complex political landscapes, has positioned him as a formidable advocate for the welfare of our people. He does not act impulsively but with calculated wisdom and strategic insight, ensuring that every step taken is in the best interest of the community. His rugged determination and incorruptible spirit serve as a catalyst for progressive transformation, solidifying his place as a beacon of hope.”

“The year 2014 remains etched in memory as a defining period in our struggle. It was a year that tested
our resilience, unity, and endurance. The road was treacherous, filled with betrayals, disappointments, and unforeseen setbacks. Many lost faith. Some abandoned the cause. Hope
seemed distant, and the weight of discouragement was heavy, yet amidst the darkness, you remained unshaken, unbroken and resolute. You stood firm when others complained, staggered and wavered, you believed when doubt clouded the path, and you rekindled the fire of perseverance when all seemed lost. It was through your courage, vision, and unwavering belief in justice that I found the strength to forge ahead.”

“Then came 2017, another tumultuous period—a year of severe struggles, political resistance, and
seemingly insurmountable obstacles. The journey was rocky, the roads thorny, and the challenges overwhelming, yet we did not falter. We stumbled, but we did not fall; we wavered, but we did not
break. Through relentless determination and collective willpower, we emerged stronger, more united, and more prepared for the battles ahead.
Even in September 2023, when efforts were made to rally Ochia’s sons and daughters, many turned
away, reluctant to commit. But once again, you stood by me. You saw possibilities where others saw
limitations. You provided strategic insights, encouragement, and unwavering support, ensuring that
the mission was not abandoned even hitherto. Through your influence, I gained entry into two formidable groups: Great People of Ochia Oil Kingdom and Ohaji United Brothers, further amplifying
my reach and strengthening the cause.
Your dedication to the youth and the less privileged remains one of your most admirable qualities. Leadership, to you, is not a position but a responsibility. You have consistently used your resources,
time, and influence to uplift, mentor, and empower those who look up to you. Your contributions extend beyond politics and activism; they are embedded in the lives you have touched, the opportunities you have created, and the future you continue to shape.”

“It is worthy to note that while we share differences, we also share an unbreakable spirit—perhaps that
is why we have come this far. Your unyielding resilience, openness to dialogue, and selflessness have
laid the groundwork for the development of Awarra Court Area and Ochia Oil Kingdom. Your fearless determination and incorruptible character have inspired many, proving that true leadership is built on integrity, service, and sacrifice. Today, this letter is not only a tribute to your remarkable contributions but also a wake-up call to the youth of our land. Change does not come from complacency or silence—it comes from action, resilience, and an unshakable commitment to the common good. The future of our community depends on those willing to rise, lead, and push forward, even in the face of adversity.”

“Your leadership and entrepreneurial excellence extend beyond the confines of our homeland. As a resident of the United Kingdom, you have proven that distance is not a limitation to impact. As the Chief Executive Director of Brickwood Ltd, you have demonstrated unadulterated business acumen,
professionalism, and innovation, setting a benchmark for excellence. Furthermore, as the Founder of
the Eze Victor Helping Hands Initiative, you have channeled your resources toward philanthropy, youth empowerment and social development, ensuring that countless lives are transformed. Eze Ugochukwu Victor, today, I proudly celebrate you. Your unyielding sacrifices, relentless pursuit of justice, and unwavering commitment to the progress of our people will never be forgotten. Your name is not just spoken in conversations—it is engraved in the hearts of those whose lives you have touched. Your legacy is not just a story of struggles and victories—it is a narrative of resilience, a blueprint for
future generations, and a testament to the power of selfless leadership.
May your wisdom, strength, and dedication continue to inspire, uplift, and ignite lasting change.” Nze Ernest Abiaziem prayed.

The Executive Chairman of Ohaji/Egbema, Hon. Marcel Amadioha said “I came in here with high level of amazing because it is very very very rare in this life that people envy and jealous, to see one of your peers, one of your mates, one of your associates doing well and a young man like you Nze Ernest Abiaziem is celebrating him. It’s very very rare because we’re living in the world of envy and jealousy that you dress well and come out, envy and jealousy will not let people to tell you you’re looking good.”

“I want to give a proper accolade to the young man who looked at his brother and friend who has distinguished himself to celebrate him: I celebrate that young man. These are the embodiment of progress. I’m very very happy to associate with this kind of people. Councilor, I want you to extend my thanks to your brother because for you to keep the spirit of envy and jealousy is very hard, it’s in all of us but trying to suppress his own to celebrate his brother and friend by not sending him messages but gathering the major young men of Ohaji/Egbema to say join me and celebrate my brother is very unprecedented; I thank him so much.”

“And I want to say, this feet today that he has done for his brother and friends will take him to greater level. I don’t know you in person but I have to read you on social media where you were doing a programme, I was following up your programmes, I don’t know you are as young as this, it’s not easy for you to give back to your people when you are strong, thank God you are not a politician, let me be honest with you when you were doing your NGO thing, people were saying you want to come and run election but you disappointed them when the election comes. But most times you see that we don’t have genuine people again in all ramifications of life and he is one of them, for all the rumours of him running elections, he disappointed them because if he wants to play politics, people like us would have known him by now but he is not interested in politics, he is giving back what God has given to him: I appreciate him, the only thing I will tell you is that you should do better and I want to assure you that God Almighty will keep blessing you.” Hon. Marcel prayed.

In his remark, the Councilor for Awarra/ Ikwerede ward, Hon. Obinna …. said “my own brother Engr. Eze Victor, of a truth, the fewer times I have conversations with you, I realized that I was discussing with a young man who was full of understanding and a gentleman per excellent. This is one of the people that have encouraged me as a Councilor of Awarra/Ikwerede ward. Some months ago, I did a work in my ward, the grading of our rural roads lasted for some days and he is one of the people that said we must surely bring the changes in our community. At this juncture Engr. Eze Victor, my younger brother has said so many things about you which others have testified. To whom much is giving, much is expected.”

“By the grace of God, we will surely get to the particular promised land you desired for our community. I’m encouraging you to continue standing firm so that at the end, people will know that a matter that started since 1974, that, it’s during our own time that peace is being restored in the two villages in Ochia: don’t be distracted. I need people like you to encourage us in terms of human capital development, government can not do it alone. I want to still encourage you, it’s all about struggle and there is no going back again, we must fix our place.” He assured.

The National President of NACOY, Comrade Nicholas Nwosu charged him that “as you are in this journey, you have to buckle up your belt very well, those that are praising you much are also going to be your problem. Your best friends in this struggle are going to be your best and worst enemy. You have to be very careful because being a freedom fighter, you are going to be forced and be attacked. But my little advice is don’t give up because given up is not an option.”

“We the Ohaji/Egbema people, we’re blessed with numerous resources but the problem is human factor. I’m praying and encouraging you to remain steadfast in your vision because even what you think it’s secret, the wall is taken record for on the reconning day like this, you may not know what you’re doing to yourself and your people but people are taking records. I want to sincerely appreciate you on behalf of the entire youth of Ohaji/Egbema and say that I am very very happy to meet somebody from Ohaji/Egbema who people can testify that he is a very wonderful personality, on behalf of the entire Ohaji/Egbema youth, I am saying you have done well.” He arrested.

The WalterSmith Board Chairman, Hon. Herbert Iheka align that “I really want to thank our brother Earnest for organizing this get together for our brother Engr. Eze Victor. There’s no need for words recycling because people have spoken exactly whom you are. But in a sentence, I urge God to give him more power to his elbow. He is a man of his words and he is a man of integrity. I wish him long life and you will live longer than Methuselah.” He wished him.

The former SSA to the Imo State Governor, Hon. Kenneth Ekwueme attested that “this is my first time of seeing you one on one but I have heard much about you. This invitation was so prompt but see the class of people that gathered here to celebrate our best. Honestly Engr. Victor, I have to tell you to hold it there, you have done me proud. You and Nze Ernest are birds of the same feather: you have done well as far as Ochia is concerned and by extension, Awarra Court Area and Ohaji/Egbema as a whole.”

“Keep it up, God is your strength. God will continue to guide you and provide for you. Engr. Eze Victor you’re a brother indeed. What I have seen and heard about you without you making noise about it, you are a great son of Ohaji/Egbema. Today the results of the struggle to make Ochia better is yielding fruits, today WalterSmith has awarded 5- Kilometers road to Ochia courtesy of the struggle, God has blessed you, keep the fire burning, God will continue to bless and protect you.” He prayed.

The Coordinator of Engr, Eze Victor Brown Ugochukwu Helping Hands Initiative, Comrade Ifurueze Victor described Engr, Eze Victor Brown Ugochukwu as “a great ally, a bosom friend who turn brother. I came in contact with him during our school days through the Niger Delta Students Union Government and till date, we continued to maintain the long edge relationship that has gone beyond friendship to family friend. Engr, Eze Victor Brown Ugochukwu through his Eze Victor Helping Hands Initiative has empowered school children, widows, less privilege and downtrodden in our various communities and I want to commend him for undertaking the harmonious task even as a private individual.”

“His passion for education is second to none and can never be overemphasized. His unwavering support for development initiatives, his technical expertise and his advocacy for good governance have made him a highly respected figure in our society. Today, I recognize his numerous contributions, commitment, selflessness and development stride he has shown to his people, friends and well-wishers. From his coordinator.

Responding, Engr. Eze Victor Ugochukwu reacted “honestly I don’t know how to respond. Nze you have always given me an assignment and you have given me another assignment. I don’t know where to start but I have to start from somewhere. Nze and I used to be in Secondary school, we used to be best friends, we lost contact but around 2013/2014 we reconnected again and shared our vision and our visions aligned together and we made a promise that year that we will build our place together. I never knew that it would get to this point. I remember in 2023, I vividly remembered the day you called me and said, look at what we’re going to do, how can you come in, and I said I will come in but I never want to be mentioned and he said that’s fine.

“We aligned together and we worked hard and that gave birth to our WalterSmith Board Chairman and from that day till now, Ochia has never remained the same. We’re proud to announce to you that Ochia is celebrating a 5- kilometers road that has never come before. No one believed it will come but we said enough is enough. Today, not just me but I am celebrating my Ochia community. Some people felt that without them nothing can ever happen but we have broken that yoke and Ernest is the key pillar to that. And if I am to give 1 naira he is also competing with me to give 1 naira and we keep doing it as personal financing and now we are reaping.”

When he told me about this event, I said no, I don’t want it. I have been doing construction for 17 years, no way out for anyone, you must be merited, you must have equipments and we must see your bank account, we must ensure that there’s an inflow and outflow in your bank. That era of give it to this my friend is over. I want to appreciate my friend for taking his time to organize this, I never know this will happen to be honest but our friendship will last forever.” Eze Victor promised.
