Book Launch: Prof Ugwulebo Advocates Use of Arms in Churches
By ThankGod Emeh…

Normal church services conducted by Christian faithfuls across Nigeria may now take another design as worshippers are advised to bear arms and go to church with them.
The strong and controversial advice which is said to be in self defense against unprovoked and unwarranted killings of Christians, even in worship centres was given by renowned Academic Scholar, Professor Emma Osonna Ugwulebo at the presentation and launch of his three books at Imo State University Auditorium Owerri recently.
The launched books are: “The Church and Existentialism”, “How Not To Rule”, “The boundaries of Incest”
Another book presented at the occasion but yet to be launched is “Organization Studies”
While “The Church and Existentialism” among others is seen as being controversial and thought-provoking, the Author, Prof Ugwulebo stressed that enough is enough where Christianity is widely threatened and Christians killed and humiliated on daily basis without remorse.
He emphasized that it is high time Christians stood their ground and defended their faith without fear or favour and without being gullible.

The Professor who is popularly known as Oracle said the worst thing to do in society is to keep quiet when things are going wrong and consequently time will come when there will be no Christian, adding that the Federal government is not helping matters to promote religious tolerance in the country.
He equally pointed out that churches are causing problems to the faith by how porous their security have been and the way and manner in which church leaders tasks and request for money.
According to him, “We should be going to churches with gun because that will bring balance of power where the person trying to attack a Christian will be conscious of your security”

“The church should create local awareness to let people know about what is happening in the country. Church should stop all these capitalist instincts”, he concluded.
Speaking, the book reviewer, and the immediate past Director of Research and Linkages of Imo state University, IMSU, Owerri, Professor valen Obinna said the author is a critical thinker who has given his time to research over the years hence the revealing books he has written to holistically affect the church and society positively.

Prof Obinna commended him for authoring the books especially when the Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU was said to be on strike even as some people are finding it difficult to adhere to the work on “The Church and Existentialism”, stating that Prof Ugwulebo has spoken his mind just as any other person has right to.
He said “He has really surprised most of us because during the strike of Academic Staff Union of University, ASUU; most of us were doing nothing and just waiting for the strike to end but the four books were written within this period… I think he has been able to say his mind. He dared said that we should carry guns when we go to church which one thinks is very embarrassing…”
The Professor of Languages, Literary and International studies added that the masterpiece on “The Church and Existentialism” are only revealing as well as clearly pointing out the happenings in today’s society and not imposing on anyone to follow the teachings against their will.
“It is an intellectual thing, that you don’t have to really block your ears when certain things are happening because there are certain information that must enter your ears and you now decide what to do with those things at the end of the day…”
The launching ceremony which took place on Thursday, December 15 December 2022, was chaired by the former Vice Chancellor of Imo State University, Prof. I C Okonkwo.

Unveiling the books at the occasion, the former VC commended Prof Ugwulebo for serving the public with such good reads and prayed God to strengthen him the more.

The VC, Prof Okonkwo recommended the books to the general public as one of the books centers on personal security.
Also speaking, the member representing Mbaitoli in Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Okey Onyekamma while describing Prof Ugwulebo as a worthy brother, commended him for his continued intellectual impacts in society.

Hon. Onyekamma encouraged Prof Ugwulebo to keep up the good works which will certainly rewrite the ugly narratives across boards.
He however advised all and sundry who made up the electorate to vote wisely and shun vote buying and other Electoral malpractices.
The ceremony which also had the vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. C. C Chukwumaeze
wore a colorful outlook as large number of notable dignitaries from the academia, alumni, clergymen, and students among others graced the occasion to cheer, share in the joy of the moment and as well support the author.
