Association of Women in Public Service Unveiled ||| NEWS CORNER

Imo First Lady, Ebere Emeka Ihedioha, has unveiled an Association of Women in Public Service, WIPS, in Imo State.
The unveiling of WIPS by Lady Ebere Emeka Ihedioha took place at Ahiajoku Convention Centre, Owerri, on Thursday.
Her Excellency while unveiling the association, appreciated Head of Service, Imo State, Alma Nma Eluwa Esq, for founding WIPS and urged the women to continue to be virtuous both at work place and home to help move the society on especially in the realization of the Millennium Development Goals aimed at balancing gender and empowering women.

Presenting an address, Head of Service, Imo State and founder of Women in Public Service, Alma Nma Eluwa Esq, explained that WIPS is an "association of women in all facets of the Civil/Public Service in Imo State, with the main objective of accelerating the realization of the Sustainable Development Goal of gender equality and the empowerment of women.Membership cuts across all females in the different strata of the Government of Imo State".

Head of Service, Imo State and founder of Women in Public Service, Alma Nma Eluwa EsqEluwa added that WIPS is also aimed at increasing women participation in nation building and the decision making process, providing avenue for mentorship of young women by outstanding women in public service; building alliances and strengthening partnership and teamwork, enhancing women's education, of formal and informal, skills, capabilities and competencies that can be leveraged on for economic empowerment and increased standard of living.
"supporting gender mainstreaming and showcasing success stories of women in public service to motivate younger women to strive for excellence, to address gender inequality, injustice against women, promoting productive opportunities for the women including accelerating women's leadership and institutionalizing positive changes for peace, development, security and comfort of the Imo society."
The ceremony saw many women in public service in Imo State gracing it including Ambassador Kema Chikwe who was the Guest Speaker including Prof Edna Mathew Njoku, of Agric Extension Department, Federal University of Technology, Owerri, who assessed the unveiling of WlPS as apt, encouraging women and youths to embrace active farming to feed well.
