Oru West Solad Tells Oil Producing Communities To Allow Peace, Development
By Eleugu Mgbemgasa…
The Sole Administrator of Oru West Local Government Area of Imo State, Barr. Willie Okoliogwo, has told the people of Niger Delta Region to allow peace to reign to enable government and oil companies to meet their social and economic needs for even development.
Okoliogwo made the urge when he spoke during the Niger Delta Region Peace-building Strategy (NDRPS) Implementation Town Hall Meeting organized by PIND Foundation and Niger Delta Affairs, held in Owerri, on Wednesday.
He said no meaningful development can thrive in an environment where there is no peace, security, unity and cooperation, stating that if the oil rich producing communities of Ohaji, Egbema, Oguta and Oru East shun restiveness, work cordially and selflessly, employment will be created, just as infrastructures will be built by government and oil conglomerates who he said are always eager to meet their social and economic needs.

“Exploitation of mineral resources domiciled in the local government areas means a lot of blessings and challenges for the people. Because when there is peace in the communities, there will be peace in Imo State and the nation at large. The interests of the people especially youths will be met if they allow government and oil companies to work according to plans by giving peace and security a chance. Governor Hope Uzodimma led government has done noble by including Oru East as oil producing local government who is today enjoying the 13% oil derivation funds”, Okoliogwo maintained.
