SWAN Polls: Imo Chapter Hails Benjamin, Asika, Nwante’s Victories

The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Imo State Chapter, has hailed the re-election of Comrade Isaiah Kemje Benjamin as National President, alongside the emergence of Ikemefuna Asika as Vice President, South East Zone, and Ijeoma Nwante as National Financial Secretary at the 2026 SWAN Triennial National Delegates Congress held in Kadun

In a statement signed by Imo SWAN Secretary, Tunde Liadi, the chapter’s Chairman, Cosmos Chukwuemeka, described the successful congress and elections as another important step towards strengthening the association.

Chukwuemeka said Benjamin’s re-election offers him another opportunity to consolidate on the gains of his first term, particularly in members’ welfare, professional development, unity and the strengthening of state chapters.

He urged the SWAN President to run an inclusive administration and deepen relationships with relevant sports bodies and stakeholders for the benefit of members and the advancement of sports journalism in Nigeria.

On Asika’s emergence as Vice President of the South East Zone, Chukwuemeka said the position places on him the responsibility of fostering greater cooperation among chapters in the zone.

He charged Asika to work closely with the five state chapters, listen to their concerns and ensure that the South East remains united and properly represented at the national level.

On Nwante’s election as National Financial Secretary, Chukwuemeka urged her to bring transparency, accountability and diligence to the management and documentation of the association’s finances.

Chukwuemeka wished Benjamin, Asika, Nwante and other newly elected national and zonal officers a successful tenure, assuring them of the support and cooperation of the Imo State Chapter.
