Orlu Senate Seat: You Acted Irresponsibly, Distastefully —Imo Labour Party Lampoons Ihejiagwa, Onyereri …Only Acholonu has our Endorsement, Blessings, Says Odunze

The Orlu Zonal leadership of the Labour Party(LP) in Imo State has decended heavily on its erstwhile, but now expelled State Chairman, Callistus Ihejiagwa and Chief Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for indulging in reprehensible conduct and falsehood.

Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa

The Labour Party’s leadership strongly distanced itself from the purported endorsement of Jones Onyereri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the zone’s senatorial seat ahead of the 2027 general elections by a “group of political mercenaries who falsely claims to represent the party.”

Dr. Jones Onyereri

Recently, Callistus Ihejiagwa, an ally of the embattled former and also expelled National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, angered LP members in Orlu zone, by announcing Onyereri’s endorsement by the party.

Reacting to the development, which has continued to attract condemnations and disclaimers from Labour Party’s leadership and members in Imo State, the State Deputy Chairman of Labour Party in Orlu zone and leader of the party in the senatorial district, Chief Collins Ngozi Odunze, described Ihejiagwa’s utterance as “reckless, irresponsible, distasteful and lacking any modicum of truth.” He wondered why Abure and Ihejiagwa, whom he noted are “jesters, political outcasts and non-members of the Labour Party” should be meddling into the affairs of the party.

According to the LP’s leader in Orlu zone, ” it is unfortunate and naive for a desperate Jones Onyereri to allow himself to be scammed by Ihejiagwa and his co-politically displaced persons (IDPs) now recruited as political mercenaries. It is ridiculous and a show of shame for Ihejiagwa and Onyereri to think that they can lash on Labour Party’s popularity to win elections instead of relying on themselves.”

Chief Odunze

Odunze stated emphatically that both Abure and Ihejiagwa are not members of Labour Party in Nigeria, having been long expelled by the national leadership of the party under Distinguished Senator Esther Nenadi Usman as National Chairman.

“The Labour Party’s twelve Local Government Areas’ Chairmen are furious because of Ihejiagwa’s shenanigan ditto for all the Secretaries for using their names to scam a desperate politician,” he posited.

He made it clear that Labour Party has no business whatsoever with Jones Onyereri and advised him to go and collect the money or whatever gratification he may have given to Ihejiagwa.

“Indeed, hunger can breed unbridled desperation. How can Ihejiagwa and his co-travellers embark on such a voyage of deceit, and surprisingly, Onyereri, with all his touted exposure, was very naive and vulnerable to Ihejiagwa’s antics. It is a huge shame,” Odunze said.

Prince(Dr)Chris Acholonu is Labour Party’s candidate for Orlu zone.

Dr Acholonu

Chief Collins Odunze further reaffirmed that Prince (Dr) Chris Acholonu remains the undisputed candidate of the Labour Party for Imo West Senatorial District.

He reiterated that Acholonu has the overwhelming endorsement and support of the party at the zonal, state and federal levels.

In his words: “Labour Party under the visionary and distinguished leadership of Senator Esther Nenadi Usman as National Chairman, is a responsible political party which remains irrevocably committed to protecting its genuine members and candidates aspiring for various elective offices in Nigeria. It has no room for gluttons like Abure, Ihejiagwa and their band of mercenaries anymore. We are in the race to win as many positions as possible in the 2027 general elections, including Orlu senatorial seat.”

Odunze emphasized that “for the avoidance of doubt, Prince (Dr)Chris Acholonu, a United States of America based techonocrat and philanthropist is Labour Party’s Orlu zone senatorial candidate and the party’s gateway to the Red Chambers in the National Assembly come 2027. He is contesting to win and win convincingly no matter the orchestrated distractions by the likes of Ihejiagwa and others still to come. Acholonu is a grassroots politician and administrator, who understands where the booby traps are and so, can never be caught by them. He is the candidate to beat for the Orlu senatorial seat.”

He pointed out that Acholonu has a streamlined and people oriented blueprint for Orlu senatorial district, which will adequately address the socioeconomic needs of the people of the zone. He reaffirned that Acholonu is a visionary and an achiever who is not given to garrulousness.

Odunze disclosed that Acholonu’s blueprint is entitled “A 4-year Policy, Legislative and Development Agenda: A Neutral 19-Sections Framework For Effective Federal Representation.” He explained that the “19-Sections framework is intended as a practical foundation for responsible representation of all the 12 local government areas in Orlu senatorial zone. Its purpose is to connect local needs with the lawful powers of the Senate and federal institutions capable of delivering lasting development.”

Odunze stressed that Acholonu is of the conviction that “the measure of success should not be the number of promises made to the people. It should rather be the number of useful projects advanced, opportunities opened, communities protected and public commitments and transparency tracked.”

He reasserted that Acholonu’s leadership philosophy aligns very well with the populist ideals of the Labour Party and its leadership across all structural levels.
