Imo North APC Primary Ends In Massive Consensus Victory For Senator Ndubueze As Ex-Aspirants Close Ranks

Three frontline aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) Imo North Senatorial primary election have disclosed that they stepped down for the incumbent Senator, Engr. Patrick Ndubueze, FNSE, in the interest of party unity, equity and peace.

The aspirants, Chief Longers Anyanwu, Hon. Gloria Akobundu and Mr. Kennedy Ike Odoeme made the disclosure at a press briefing recently, where they explained that their decision followed consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the district.

According to them, the move was in line with the zoning arrangement endorsed by elders and leaders of Imo North Senatorial District, which currently favours the Otanchara/Otanzu bloc.

“Our decision was guided by the interest of peace, equity, unity and the continued progress of the APC in Imo North Senatorial District,” the aspirants stated.

They described the APC primary election, conducted through the Direct Primary system (Option A4), as peaceful, transparent and widely participated in by party members across the zone.

The former aspirants also dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging confusion or controversy surrounding the outcome of the primary election, insisting that the process was peacefully conducted and properly concluded.

“We want to state clearly that the APC primary election in Imo North was peacefully conducted and the results duly collated and announced by the appropriate authorities,” they said.

They added that supporting Senator Ndubueze for a second term would further strengthen the APC ahead of the forthcoming general elections and consolidate support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration.

“This overwhelming consensus will further unite our people and position the APC for greater victory in the zone and across Imo State,” they added.

The aspirants said party members across the district turned out to reaffirm their support for Senator Ndubueze, who emerged as the consensus candidate at the conclusion of the exercise.

They further commended the conduct of the primary election, describing it as one of the most peaceful and organized internal party exercises held in the state in recent times.

They also praised the organizing committee, party supporters and the “Renewed Hope Ambassadors” for maintaining order throughout the process and coordinating the collation of results across the state.

The trio urged party members and the public to disregard narratives suggesting the emergence of any other candidate, insisting that the authentic results had already been transmitted by the returning officer appointed by the APC National Working Committee (NWC).

Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC, the former aspirants pledged to mobilize their political structures and grassroots supporters toward ensuring victory for Senator Ndubueze, the APC and President Tinubu in the forthcoming general elections.
