Clergy Enjoins Politicians to Uphold Good Governance
Presiding Bishop of House of God Church, Bishop Prof Athan Azubuike, has enjoined politicians to uphold good governance to ensure efficient social service delivery to the people for improved economy and comfort living.
He gave the advise during an event organized by Mezie Imo Clergy Forum which took place at RockView Hotel, Owerri, recently.
Bishop Azubike maintained that there is a wide gap between the government and the people, hence the need to have the Forum which he stressed would act as a synergy among the government and the people.
“The purpose of this Forum is to bring government and the people together and to ensure that government meets the social needs of the people.”
He lamented that politicians are not much interested in the affairs that concern the welfare of the people mostly in the area of providing social amenities to the people especially to the rural dwellers.
In terms of budget planning, the Man of God regretted that the people are not involved in the whole process as he added that budget is not only between the executive and the lawmakers, but the people should also be involved.
“Budget making is supposed to involve the people who must know what the budget is all about. When you include the people mostly the rural dwellers you will be able to know the basic social needs of individual communities,” he stated.
Inaugurating the men of God during the ceremony, the Bishop charged them to go and preach the good news of “Mezie Imo” to the people, saying he was moved by the spirit that moved Nehemiah to go and rebuild the Temple of Jerusalem.
“Today, we have inaugurated more than 831 Foot Soldiers who will spread the positive tidings to the world”.
Contributing, founder of Rehemi Peace Ministry and also the anchor for Peace and Conflict Resolution, Air Vice Marshall Konye Robert Ekezie, Retired,
Maintained that “Imo State is richly blessed with both human and natural resources, but reflected that the reason it seems like we are going backward is because we have forgotten our Creator.
We can regain our glorious days by returning to God by shunning our evil and corrupt ways”.
The event was witnessed by Clergy, laity and personalities including Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu who chaired the occasion.
