Lockdown: Mbaitoli LGA Distributes Imo Govt palliative Materials to its communities.
Imo Government has continued the distribution of pallative materials (food items) to the vulnerable and down trodden in the 27 local government areas of the state, including Mbaitoli Local Government.

The materials were given to the Interim Technical Committee Chairmen to distribute to the people in their various wards.
The Technical Committee (TC) Chairman in Mbaitoli Local Government Area (LGA), Mr John Eke while distributing the materials on Thursday at the LG Headquarters, Nwaorieubi, said the materials were not only for party members but all people in the LGA.
He said that the food items comprising bags of rice, yams, indomie and tomotoes were for the 12 INEC wards that make up the LGA with an additional N100,000 each.
Eke urged the Traditional Rulers, leaders, political appointees and other stakeholders in the LGA to ensure the items reached the people and was shared amicably as directed by the state Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodinma.
“This is part of the state government’s move to releive the people of the state of the hardship caused by the Covid-19 lockdown. This is not a political material but for everybody in the LGA,” he said.
The TC chairman described Gov. Uzodinma as a man with a good heart for the people of Imo adding that the council would reach out to other well meaning Mbaitoli people to support the government gesture and help the people.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Barr. Kingsley Ononuju a party chieftan in the LGA said the distribution is a noble move from the state government.
He said he was at the area to ensure an orderly and even distribution of the materials to the wards to ensure the corona virus lockdown did not have a toil on the people.
Ononuju enjoined the people to continue to support the government of Gov. Uzodinma to succeed as more pallatives, he said, are on the way.
Engr. Innocent Ikpamezie, the General Manager and Special Adviser to the Governor on Owerri Capital Development Authority (OCDA), also from the area, thanked the governor for filfulling his promise on providing the palliative measure.
He cleared the rumour in some quarters that the materials were being diverted saying no well thinking individual would scuttle the government plans to alleviate the sufferings of the people.
Ikpamezie advised Mbaitoli people to support the Gov. Uzodinma led adminiastration which he said meant well for Imo people.
Some of the community leaders who recieved the items for their ward members expressed appreciation to the state government for the gesture.
They said the materials would go a long way in ensuring that the poorest of the poor and the vulnerable in the society do not feel the pinch of the Covid-19 lockdown much.
Mr John Ugwuananwa, member of the Covid-19 Management Committee in Amaike Ward in Mbaitoli expressed delight at the food items which he said was meant to relieve the sufferings people in the community.
He noted that the people of the area had long expected the pallative materials and proimised to ensure it reached everyone it was meant for in the area.
Mr Leonard Ohiri, a Councellor in Ubomiri Ward in the LGA thanked God for such “welcome development” which he said was the first in that community.
He promised to ensure it got to the people that really need it.

Hope Uzodimma, on April 11 commenced the distribution of relief materials and food items to the 27 local government areas of the state.
Delivering the items to the Interim Management Committee Chairmen of the various local government areas after flag-off, Uzodimma urged them to liaise with all political appointees in their domain and ensure that the items get to the vulnerable and less privileged in the communities.
He warned that any act of greed or attempt to share the items to the wrong people would be sanctioned.
The governor gave the councils a template for the distribution and promised to monitor how the template was complied with or not.
The agency reports that some individuals, politicians and other TC chairmen in the state have been supporting the state governments effort and have distributed materials to LGAs in the state such as Ihitte Uboma, Orsu, Isiala Mbano, Okigwe, Idiato, Ngor Okpala aside others while the distribution is ongoing.
