Imo NUJ Concludes 2021 Press Week Programmes Amidst Joy
The 2021 Imo State Nigeria Union of Journalists Press Week with the theme: Media Participation in Security and Economic Development which started on Monday 13th December has come to an end with a Thanksgiving Mass at Holy Cross Catholic Church Aladinma.
The week-long event which was kick-started with Radio talks featured a Facility tour to Golden Guinea Brewery, Umuahia, Road walk, Lecture, Novelty Match with COEASU, Free medicals courtesy of Everight Diagnostics, and Award Presentation.
Speaking on the occasion, the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, assured Imo Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, of continuous support and partnership.
Senator Uzodimma gave this assurance while delivering his speech during the grand finale of the 2021 Press Week at the Council’s new Secretariat, Owerri.


The Governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Information & Strategy; Chief Declan Emelumba, thanked Imo Journalists for being partners in progress with the Reconstruction, Recovery and Rehabilitation of the present administration.
He charged media practitioners in the State to always adhere to the ethics of Journalism profession in their reportage; urging them to be weary of social media blackmailers.
The Vice President, NUJ Zone C; Comrade Ifesinachi Emmanuel; who was ably represented by the Zonal Secretary; Comr. Eze Adiuku, while eulogizing State chairman of the union for organizing a hitch-free press week, urged Imo Journalists to always expose ills in the society through their reports.
He went on to say that journalism is a noble profession that requires us to report objectively and ensure we use our medium to make society a better place.



Earlier in his remarks, The NUJ State Council Chairman Chief Chris Akaraonye, while commending the planning committee members described this year’s theme; “Media Participation In Security & Economic Development” as timely- especially now Imo is being bedeviled with security challenges.
