Ambassador Uju Calls for Girl-Child Emancipation, Women’s Empowerment on International Women’s Day
As the world commemorates International Women’s Day (IWD), renowned humanitarian and good governance advocate, Ambassador Chika Uju has called on society to intensify efforts toward empowering women, liberating the girl-child, and supporting widows and other vulnerable members of the community.

In a message marking the global celebration, Ambassador Uju urged both young and old to take responsibility in uplifting the less privileged, stressing that the emancipation of the girl-child should remain society’s watchword.
According to her, empowering girls through education, guidance, and protection will help build stronger families and communities.
She also appealed for greater compassion and support for widows and indigent women, noting that collective assistance from society can help improve their living conditions and restore dignity to their lives.

Addressing young people, Ambassador Chika Uju encouraged youths to channel their energy into reasonable and profitable activities, warning them against engaging in vices that could endanger their future or bring embarrassment to their families.
While acknowledging the vital role women play as home builders, she emphasized the importance of balance and self-care.
“Women are helpers as instructed by God, but they should also find time to rest despite their many responsibilities,” she said.
Ambassador Uju advised women to continue nurturing their homes and children while maintaining respect for their husbands and honoring God. She also stressed the need for mothers to remain actively involved in their children’s lives, including being aware of the relationships they keep.
She further cautioned women not to neglect their health in the course of fulfilling family responsibilities.
Ambassador Uju equally encouraged women to expand their participation in leadership and governance, stating that women should be actively involved in politics and decision-making processes to ensure balanced representation in society.
