The World “Today”: More than just a Poem by Nwosu Prayerlife
The fast rising poet, Miss Prayerlife Nwosu who is so enthusiastic about changing the ugly narratives in society and how best to make the world a better place where all the good wishes and prayers of man can be easily actualized without much ado is at it again with her big pen, telling the stories of today, how the society has collapsed under our watch and how to remedy the situation.

This is because when the problems are known and roundly spelt out, then the solution becomes clearer and nearer.

It is a good read, not just for fun but for an overwhelming knowledge of NOW and what the future portends:
Today
Peace is held captive by the drums of war
Love drowned in a pool of hates
Joy is lost in an angered cloud of blood
Souls are hidden in dark rooms full of skulls
Racism and apartheid; gods of the world
Love remains a forbidden phrase
Hope, a word of condolence and ease
A question of when with a response of soon
Dark years of dirge and candle vigils
Lost hope of men on a bloody lane
Speak to the stars in words of the heart
Plead for a beacon at their danger sight
For reflections are absent in mirrors
Minds are frozen with no cold proof
Thought of what next; a threat to nap
The wall listens to lamentations in the dark
Parrots let cats out of sacs
Chipmunks prefer to be called rabbits
Vultures appear like doves
Trees gossip and whispers to the wind
Dogs have chosen bones over barks
The mice now makes jest of the cat
Roosters mount chicks while Hens crow
Lions have become sudden herbivores
Lizards have become cannibals
And the candle melted with a blowout.
