Sam Daddy Debunks Rumour of Leaving PDP

PDP Governorship aspirant and former Senator representing Owerri Senatorial zone Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu has outrightly debunked claims that he was planning to leave the People’s Democratic Party, PDP for the All Progressive Congress, APC following his defeat at the Supreme Court where he challenged the emergence of Rt Hon Emeka Ihedioha at the PDP primaries.

Senator Anyanwu made this known in a Press Release signed by him and made available to news men as well as general public.

The Press Release Reads:

I HAVE NO PLAN OR PLANS TO LEAVE PDP.

My attention was drawn yesterday through inundated calls from friends and supporters both within and outside the state of a media report alleging that I had concluded plans to leave PDP for APC.

At first, I dismissed the entire report as a none issue and a figment of the imagination of the mischicious promoters as there was no iota of truth in the whole allegation but for the sake of my teaming supporters and the general public who might be tempted to believe the obvious falsehood if I do not situate the inherent lies and strengthen the facts, I decided to state as follows:

  1. I have no plan nor have i ever contemplated abandoning a party I helped to build. Clearly, one cannot build a house and abandon it.
  2. It is an incontrovertible fact that I helped to nurture PDP in Imo state especially at a time the party was down. As a senator and the the highest political office holder from the Imo state, I invested heavily financially and toured the entire 27 LGAs of the state in a bid to shore up the dwindled image of the party. At a time, I became the rallying point for the party and shouldered such challenging responsibilities with it’s attendant financial burden.
  3. I contested for the governorship of the party and only lost to certain federal forces in the party inspite of the fact that I was the most preferred choice for our party faithful in the state, as a democrat, I challenged the outcome of the predetermined exercise to the highest court of the land because I felt cheated. Though the Supreme court in their own wisdom has ruled, i have now left everything in the hands of God and I am still a strong member of PDP because my political future does not begin and end with the last guber contest. So there is basically no basis for leaving the party.
  4. Even assuming I have the plan to leave PDP, I will not do that through the back door. Anybody who knows me can attest to the fact that I play straight.
  5. I also consider it as utterly mischivious the insinuation in that report that there was an alleged plan to suspend me from the party in the state. Apparently, this rumour is being instigated by agents of the state government who unfortunately have left the pressing needs of the state unattended to only to pursue a vendeta and counter productive mission against me. I advise them to thread with caution and channel all the energies they are investing abeit wrongly in sponsoring falsehood against my person to addressing the many problems of the state. They should leave Senator Anyanwu alone and face the daunting challenges of governance as time is of essence.
  6. Finally, I want to urge my teaming supporters, PDP faithful and indeed the general public to please disregard the unfounded rumour of my planned defection from PDP as I unequivocally state that the report was false, baseless and laughable.
