Okorocha Congratulates Imo NUJ New Chairman, Excos

The Governor Owelle Rochas Okorocha has Congratulated Mr. Christopher Akaraonye on his emergence as the new Chairman of the State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, noting that his Victory at the election was expected by most of the media Practitioners in the State.

The governor congratulated others who were also elected as the new leaders of the State branch of the NUJ, including Mr. Emma Odibo, who is the Vice-Chairman, Julieth Dim, who is the new Secretary of the Union, and all those elected to be members of the Union’s new Executive Council.

He called for a United NUJ and advised those who had aspired to occupy one Position or the other, but could not succeed this time, to join hands with the new team in the overall interest of Journalists in the State.

The governor also advised the new Chairman, Mr. Akaraonye and Members of his EXCO to carry every Journalist in the State along, including those who never supported their election and added that the interest of the Union as a body, should take precedence over personal interest.

The governor assured that the State government would Continue to work in synergy with the NUJ as a body and with the individual Journalists.
