Imo Harmony Project Angers 1st Vice Chairman, General Ihekire, as He Walks Out of IHP Rally in Enyiogugu
There was drama at the. Imo Harmony Project rally in Mbaise on Friday January 2nd, 2026 as the First Vice Chairman of the organization, His Excellency, Major-General CRU Ihekire (rtd), stormed out of the rally as he displayed the list of speakers which omitted his name.

General Ihekire
“There was a breach of protocol.. The 1st Vice Chairman of Imo Harmony Project, displayed the list of speakers which omitted his name after he was told that he was expected to speak. He obviously felt that he deserved more respect than that at the rally held in Mbaise on Friday 2nd of January, 2026”
That was the mood of the 1st Vice Chairman of IHP who has sacrificed much to pilot the formative meetings of the organization. There was clear dissatisfaction on the face of Ist Vice Chairman who is also the National Vice President and Coordinator Zone 5 (South East) Retired Army, Navy, Air Force Officers Association of Nigeria (RANAO) and Chairman of Ikeduru Leaders of Thought in Ikeduru Local Government Area of Imo State, in a chat with News Corner Media on Saturday 3rd January, 2026.

Gen. Ihekire
Gen Ihekire, a former Force Commander of African Union Mission in Darfur Sudan and former Executive Secretary of a subcontinental development organization, the Niger Basin Authority, made of nine countries with Headquarters in Niamey, Niger Republic, added, “with my pedigree, there is nothing to drag with anyone. I am a Statesman, not a politician and I am not contesting for any political position. My only desire is to throw my good name, time and resources into the struggle for Owerri Zone to produce the Governor of Imo State in 2027/2028. But decorum demands that certain personalities be accorded appropriate respect at public events especially as the 1st Vice Chairman of IHP.”
General Ihekire was also Chairman of National Task Force to Combat the Illegal importation of Goods, Small Arms, Ammunition and Light Weapons and also one of founding members of Southern and Middle Belt Forum where he was Spokesperson for the South East.
Meanwhile, News Corner investigations revealed that Ihekire is one of the founders of the Imo Harmony Project, a non-sectarian and non-partisan organization which its objectives include the realization of the Governor of Imo State from Owerri Senatorial District of the state come 2027 in order of equity, fairness and justice for peace and harmony to be achieved.
