Governor Okorocha calls for Unity among IPOB and AREWA Group, Says Nigeria is One
The Governor of Imo state, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has called for unity between the Northern and South-Eastern youths during a broadcast at the Government House Owerri.
The Governor’s statement is against the backdrop of various incentive statement created to the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Movement of actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MOSSOB) and the reaction of the AREWA Youth Consultative Forum.
During his address, Governor Okorocha who recalled that the issue of IPOB, MOSSOB and the AREWA Youths has in recent time been making the rounds for the rights and wrong reasons with many interpretation and misinterpretation Ultimatum by AREWA to the Igbos stated that whatsoever reasons for the agitations by the groups is ill-willed that has done no good to the nation.
He said the Igbo man is a peace loving Nigerian who is found in every nulk and crannies of the country either building the bridges of friendship or cultivating brotherhood, developing the land and contributing immensely to the economic development of areas where they are even more than any other tribe will do at the south east.
Governor Okorocha further maintained that the Igbos are non violent people who are the true Nigerians hence he condemned the statements of the Northern and South East groups as their actions is ill-informed and not for the best interest of Ndi-Igbo and Nigerians, while saying that the two regions has for a long time enjoyed political relationship.
The Governor also appealed to leaders in the country to speak out against the hate and disaffection been spreading which is already eaten deep to the foundation of the unity of Nigeria.
It will be recalled that recently the Arewa Youth Consultative Assembly, a coalition of Socio-political groups in Northern Nigeria through its President Yerima Shettima directed members of Igbo ethnic nationality residing in the North to relocate to their Southeast homeland before October 1, in reaction to the secessionist demand of some Igbo groups.
