Obube Ancient Kingdom Agog …as Community Presents Eze-elect, Prince Onukogu
It was a glorious and heartwarming day for the people of Obube Ancient kingdom in Owerri North local government area as the Royal family formally presented the Eze-Elect, Prince Kemakolam Onukogu, who would assume the position as the new traditional ruler of the community.
Kemakolam Onukogu is the first son of the late Eze Udo 1 of Obube Ancient kingdom, the Ekwueme III of Owerri who joined his ancestors over a year ago.


After the memorial thanksgiving service in honour of the late traditional ruler of Obube Ancient kingdom, Eze Andrew Igbozurike Onukogu, the Eze Udo I of Obube who joined his ancestors last year, the royal family presented his first son, Prince Kemakolam Onukogu as the Eze-elect of the community.
The colourful presentation ceremony was witnessed by a mammoth crowd among which include Ngwoma Obube king makers, elders, women, children who trooped out in their numbers to herald the presentation of the Eze-elect.

According to the ancient traditions, Obube has had a peaceful succession of traditional rulers through hereditary process that led to the emergence of the Eze-elect.
The echoes of the acceptance of Prince Kemakolam Onukogu were widely observed to have reverberated the air.
The chairman of Obube community, Nze Damian Ekeagba said that the people of the community are grateful to God for the peaceful and joyous day enjoining the Eze-elect, Kemakolam Onukogu to ensure he carries his people along in his reign.
The eldest man in Onukogu royal family, Professor Basil Onukogu said the event was a way of following the traditional process of handing over the kinship to the first son of the late traditional ruler, HRH Andrew Igbozurike Onukogu, who was the immediate past royal father of the community.
One of the Illustrious sons of the community who spoke from his overseas base, Chief Albert Ahanonu (Arufuaku Chukwunuikem 1 of Umuchoko, Obube) said that the Eze-elect is a unique choice of the people.
Addressing his people, the Eze-elect, Kemakolam Onukogu expressed his gratitude to the people for reposing great confidence in him, promising to keep up with the developmental strides and other legacies of his late father.
