In his words, “I offer myself to serve the NUJ zone C for the post of Vice President because the Zone needs a humble personality, thorough bred professional, purposeful, achievement oriented, service driven and credible leadership to add immense value to journalism practice. These qualities I believe could not have been acquired in a fluke but through consistent and painstaking practice of professional journalism coupled with personal capacity building in leadership reinforced by the passion for service. For the past 26 years, I have practiced and preached only Journalism and glad to have equally been schooled in the details of our great Union, the NUJ”, he said.
Sir Igwe who has served at various times as Chapel Auditor, Council Ex-Officio member, Two terms Council Secretary and two terms Council Chairman in Imo State and noted for professional and progressive Journalism promised to bring about the much desired change in the Zone in particular and Union at large adding that his wealth of experience is a reference point and stepping stone to achieving the feat.
“My tenures as NUJ State Council Chairman recorded several exemplary achievements and landmark public interest milestones that remain indelible reference points. They include the “Imo NUJ Media Village” where Journalists are being allocated land, free of charge to build their personal houses, a brand New Ultra Modern Press Centre Complex, Acquisition of a brand New Hummer Bus, Biometric Capturing of the over 320 practicing Journalists in the State and Institution of the Culture of Political Debates and Accountability fora by public officers. I therefore would consider any opportunity to serve the Union particularly for the elevated office of the Vice President as a privilege that calls for high sense of responsibility, diligence and accountability.”
The promising media professional, while revealing his tripod programme of massive welfare programme, capacity enhancement and Professional Re-skilling and Retooling (MACEP) tagged “My strategic Reform Agenda” said his mission is to take NUJ Zone C especially practicing Journalists in the Zone to the next level of professional and development Journalism.

(b) Capacity Enhancement: This element of our Agenda intends to consolidate and expand the infrastructural base of the NUJ Zone “C” to increase revenue/income and the Assets base. We shall move from a Rented Accommodation to our own building that will not only serve an a secretariat urce an Event Centre.
(c) Professional Retooling and Re-skilllng: It is obvious that the digital Age has also activated the era of versatility among professionals. Therefore the economic survival of anyone Journalists inclusive requires the acquisition of additional Skills and Retooling, through training and Retraining. Our members shall be well exposed to the numerous training opportunities that abound. This is my mission, this Is my BOND. HOLD ME ACCOUNTABLE ON THESE.” Sir Innocent Igwe disclosed.
