May 27: Children Are Divine Gifts, Let’s Appreciate, Nurture Them For Posterity –Amb Uju

A notable woman leader and journalist, Ambassador Chika Uju has called on parents and guardians world over to always celebrate their Children especially on May 27 which is Internationally marked as Childrens Day while appreciating them as wonderful gifts from God.

Ambassador Uju gave the advice while having good fun time with Children in her neighborhood as a way of marking the 2024 May 27; Childrens Day.

She called on parents to always push and raise their children to do all that is right, so as to reap the good fruits when they grow up, as she thanked them for their resilience and sacrifices in training them.

“I celebrate them as I thank God on behalf of their parents for taking care of them at this critical moment”

“I urge them not to relent for there will be light at the end of the tunnel”

The woman leader further charged parents to keenly watch the type of life their Children leads, so as to nip all wrong doings in the bud before it gets out of hands.

“I advise parents to monitor their children/wards to know the kind of relationship they keep both at home and in school”

“I advise the children mostly those at secondary and higher institutions to shun vices that will bring shame to themselves, families and society at large”

“Not just parents. Education of the young ones is everybody’s business. Back in the days, we had teachers on break duty, keeping an eye on these kids because by virtue of our training on puberty, these things are a natural occurrence that comes with the phase of puberty. These kids do not understand these feelings and how not to express them at this age. They need to think to understand and learn, the intentional act of chastity, focus, self control etc and the life time dangers, such a mistake can pose to their entire destiny”

“It’s very unfortunate that most students smoke all kinds of substances that destroy their mental health etc”

Ambassador Uju however decried the wrong acts of students in schools owing to peer pressure, trends and social media hence called on lecturers to see the students as their own children and as well morally guide the students on the way to go other than add to the problems in society

The dogged journalist also advised students to report all erring lecturers to appropriate authorities to bring them to book, noting that suicide is not the solution to sexual harassment, bullying among others.

“The death of the Ebonyi student breaks the heart. I urge lecturers to see their students as part of their families. They should correct with love and not lust. I advise students to report to the authorities whatever challenges they may have been facing in the hands of their lecturers than taking his or her life as suicide is not the best and moreover, God told us not to kill so why killing yourself?
My condolences to the girl’s(student) family” she concluded.
