IMSAA Gets Tough on Signage Tax Defaulters
Imo Signage and Advertisement Agency (IMSAA) has commenced enforcement operations against signage tax defaulters in the state.

The General Manager/Chief Executive Officer of the Agency, Hon. Chibuzor Umunnakwe revealed this at the weekend, during a chat with our correspondent.
He said that this enforcement operation is targeted at owners of business signs and owners of billboard structures and would be on-going.
According to the Agency’s boss, the enforcement operation has become necessary because of the poor attitude of many signage and billboard owners in the state to payment of signage tax.
He lamented that some signage owners have been defaulting in their signage tax payment to Imo State Government since 2020.

Hon. Chibuzor Umunnakwe
The IMSAA boss, therefore, called on affected owners of signage and other outdoor advertising structures in the state to pay their arrears and to be proactive in renewing their signage permits for 2022, to avoid being on the wrong side of the law.
“Tax payment is a civic and legitimate duty and no one or organization needs to wait to be enforced upon before doing the needful”, Hon. Chibuzor Umunnakwe re-iterated.
Hon. Umunnakwe added that signage permits issued by the Agency are annual in nature and the time has come to renew for 2022.

He said permit holders should visit the Agency to renew their permits while those who intend to put up new signs and outdoor structures should also come to the Agency without delay.
IMSAA is the sole Imo State agency set up for the regulation, control, and management of public space advertising (outdoors, stadium, shopping malls, etc), signage erection and display, brand activations, mobile/transit branding, and other out-of-home displays.
