Imo CP Decorates 462 New ASPs, Declares War On Misconduct
The Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, has decorated 462 newly promoted Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) at the Imo State Command Headquarters, charging them to uphold integrity and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.

The decoration ceremony, held during the CP’s Conference in Owerri on February 17, marked a major career milestone for the officers elevated from the rank of Inspectors.

Addressing the newly promoted ASPs, CP Bosso stressed that promotion comes with increased responsibility and accountability. He urged them to lead by example, maintain discipline, and deliver quality service to the public.

In a firm warning to senior officers, including Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, Tactical Team Commanders, and Heads of Departments, the CP reiterated his administration’s zero tolerance for misconduct, as he cautioned against extortion, harassment, high-handedness and abuse of office.
The tough stance follows the recent dismissal of three personnel found guilty of gross misconduct after orderly room trials and thorough investigations where CP Bosso made it clear that no officer would be shielded from accountability, adding that supervisory officers would also be held responsible for lapses under their command.

The Commissioner further announced plans for unscheduled inspections of police cells, checkpoints, and divisions across the state to enforce compliance with professional and operational standards.
Officers were specifically warned against unlawful detention, arrest by proxy, interference in civil matters and violations of human rights.
The Imo State Police Command in a press release issued by its Public Relations Officer, DSP Okoye Henry, ANIPR on 18th February, 2026 reaffirmed its commitment to professionalism, accountability, and safeguarding citizens’ rights while sustaining the fight against crime across the state.
