Homosexual Cries Out Over Threats To His Life

An acclaimed homosexual, identifying self as Johnbosco Igwe, has cried out over threats to his life and that of his lover, Lazarus Chinasa Edwin (male), who escaped attack by the natives against same sex practice committed on Friday 14th July, 2017 by 12.30pm in a rented one-bedroom apartment located in Kujama community in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Nigeria.

Narrating what happened, Johnbosco told our source that: “On that afternoon of 14th July 2017, I was with my lover in my rented one-bedroom apartment, in Kujama community in Chikun LGA of Kaduna State. As we were having amorous affairs, we had unusual noise around the house suspected to come from invaders. My lover, Lazarus Chinasa Edwin, managed to escape before I was caught and mercilessly beaten by the attackers who said they were Kujama Neighborhood Watch (Vigilantes). The severe beating attracted some natives and passers-by. I was taken to one man they called Akaigwe, an Igbo chieftain, knowing that I am an Igbo. It took the intervention of Akaigwe to prevent my been lynched by the natives.

“Later, my captors arrived at a suggestion that an oath be administered on me before a deity for profaning the land with the taboo of gay practice. Before the deity, it was pronounced that insanity shall befall me after 8 years should I fail to bring my escaped lover, Lazarus, for the ritual of land cleansing; and I should expect mysterious death from the deity should I try same sex practice thereafter.

“I was released after two days of ordeal on the condition that I should fetch my escaped lover, Lazarus. I later run to my town, Orlu In Imo State, but was at risk of incurable insanity as the time given to me to provide my escaped lover is about to elapse. For over five years now. I have been looking for my escaped lover but he is still at large”.

Asked why he was disclosing this after all this while and why he didn’t lodge the report with the law enforcement agents? Johnbosco answered: “I was afraid because homosexual practice is prohibited by Nigeria law and is punishable in Nigeria as stipulated under the Criminal Code Act and the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2013 (SSMPA), which criminalize acts of ‘carnal knowledge against the order of nature’, ‘gross indecency’, same-sex unions, and LGBT advocacy. These provisions carry a maximum penalty of fourteen years’ of imprisonment. Same-sex activity is also criminalized at the state level through Sharia law, under which the maximum sentence is death by stoning. The likes of Lazarus Chinasa and I are not safe under these systems that operate against international human rights to life and freedom to live one’s life without molestation. Nobody should be allowed to deny others how to live their sexual lives or destroy their lives for the sake of ancient taboo”, Johnbosco Igwe submitted.
