Health: Amuzie Ikenna Gives Free Medication to Needy Widows, Widowers at Obitti, Ohaji
By Ikenna Orioha

A philanthropist, Amuzie Ikenna Kenneth, has given free medication to over sixty (60) poor widows, widowers, old and young at Obitti Community, Ohaji/Egbema, Imo State.
The free medication which took place at St Lucy’s Catholic Parish, Obitti, Ohaji, recently attracted a Eucharistic Celebration officiated by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Jonathan Ezenwoke, assisted by Senior Seminarians as well a good number of community members trooped out in their numbers to welcome the kind gesture.
The medical outreach was administered by a well grounded medical doctor and nurse who conducted diagnosis to identify the peoples health status before medication which was dispensed serially and orderly.
Cases treated included diabetes, malaria, fever among others as beneficiaries went home happily, thanking God for using their son to bless them and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
The Donor, Amuzie Ikenna Kenneth said he has the burning desire and a strong covenant with God to render assistance to the needy especially poor widows and widowers to make them live healthy and happily at all times, hence the medical outreach.
Amuzie Ikenna who said he single- handedly sponsored the free medication, noted that he had previously awarded scholarships to over five (5)students of the Community, having been contributing to the growth of the church and the advancement of Obitti community.
“The free medication to the widowers, windows and other less-privileged people at Obitti Community is in commemoration of my birthday jointly celebrated with my four (4)children with the support of my wife and entire family. It burns in me to assist the needy with my little resources.”
“I love charity, chivalry and philanthropy. I vow to take good care of them, unite the widowers and widows under one umbrella to sustain the benevolence to keep them happy always”, Amuzie postulated.
In their votes of thanks, the Church and Community leaders, Chief Bath Umah and Chief Ben Opara, extolled Amuzie Ikenna Kenneth for the free medication, asking God to reward and see him through in his endeavors.
Earlier, during the Eucharistic Celebration marking the free medication, Rev. Fr. Jonathan Ezenwoke, Parish Priest, St Lucy’s Catholic Church, Obitti, Ohaji, appealed to the congregation to draw close to God who he affirmed had liberated mankind through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, while wishing the sick divine healing and sound health.
Ezenwoke urged Christians to always pray, as well as access medication and not rely solely on self-medication, hailing the donor for remembering his people especially those who could not afford medication.
“The sponsor of the medical outreach has done well and we commend him. On the last day, one shall be remembered for his good deeds. I urge you all to emulate him”, the Priest affirmed
