The Special Adviser to the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, on Urban Development, Hon. CDB Williams, has said that the huge increase on salaries of public workers will enhance productivity and the economy of Imo State for improved development, peace and security.
He said the feat is very significant and will largely spur the workers towards proficiency and commitment, saying the positive mark by the Governor is a proof of democratic governance.
The pragmatic politician and visionary leader who is very instrumental to the development of Owerri Municipal Local Government in terms of social amenities, recounted that the review of the salary structure of public workers will place Imo as one of the best workers-friendly and resourceful states in Nigeria.
“The jumbo increment on Minimum Wage in Imo State is a milestone which will encourage the workers to put in their best, as well as remain strong and disciplined, thereby boosting the economy of the state and advancing development and goodness”, he said.
According to the SA, the increment in minimum wage from #70,000 to #104,000 has made Imo State one of the highest- paying employers in the public sector and is a right step in the right direction.
“Medical Doctors’ Entry-level pay is now ₦508,000 with a maximum of ₦1.2 million monthly. Lecturers Entry-level pay is now ₦222,000 with a maximum of ₦812,000 monthly. Teachers’ entry-level pay is now ₦104,000, with a maximum of ₦441,000 monthly,” CDB Williams affirmed.
He stressed that retirees had also been made happy as the government has allocated #16 billion to clear outstanding gratuity arrears of pensioners, covering over 5,700 retirees across state and local government levels.

CDB Williams who was the candidate of APC in the 2023 general elections for Owerri Federal Constituency, urged the workers to continue to work with love, sincerity and dedication to justify the Governor’s good will, applauding him for raising the Minimum Wage astronomically, a feat he added is glorying and inspiring.
