Massive Achievements: Imo NUJ Eulogizes FedPolyNek Rector, Arimanwa …describes Him As Media Friendly Rector

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo state Council has commended the renowned Digital Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede over his massive legacy projects in the institution and partnerships with the media among other stakeholders for progress in society.

The Imo NUJ made the commendation in a “Thank You Visit” led by the leadership of the Council to the Rector on Thursday August 17, 2023.

The Rector was at the visit presented with a “Deep Appreciation” plague which read ” …In Recognition of Your Immense Contribution, Partnership and Support For Nigeria Union of Journalists Imo State Council during his tenure as Rector Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri”

In his speech, the state Chairman of Imo NUJ, Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma JP expressed immense appreciation to Engr Michael Arimanwa for his outstanding contributions to the union, communications skills, approach and healthy media relationship over the years, describing him as a media Friendly Rector.

Comrade Nwanguma noted that the Council is satisfied with the level of maturity his leadership has shown in engaging Journalists across boards as well as acknowledging the place of the state leadership in issues of interest.

He however decried the damages and bad images fake Journalists had painted the institution but promised to continue sanitizing the media practice and as well continue the partnership with the incoming administration.

“We have come to say thank you for your support and contributions Imo NUJ and members enjoyed during your tenure as Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede…and we also came here to say sorry for the damages some of the quacks did to your administration”

Adding his voice, the Vice Chairman of Imo NUJ, Comrade Emma Odibo relayed the Union’s prayers for greater heights to the Rector and leadership team, adding that God will see him through all his future engagements.

He equally commended the Rector for recognizing the special role of Journalists in their programmes and collaborating with them hence the visit.

Responding, the outgoing Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr Dr. Michael Arimanwa who was beaming with smiles, expressed joy that the “Thank you” visit was the first of its kind to him since assumption as Rector hence he dedicated his achievements to journalists in the state while commending the NUJ leadership for their insightful initiative, noting the move as a morale booster.

“I want to thank you immensely on behalf of the management of the institution for the partnership you have implored during my tenure. Anytime we brought anything to the press; the press always help us to escalate the Achievement of my administration. You have been there for us especially since Dr. Ugochukwu Iwuji came and we have been able to interface with you and the activities of this school have been properly escalated”

Engr. Arimanwa harped on the need for media practitioners to always balance their stories before going public, noting that his administration have documented all their achievements over the years.

He said going by the legacy Foundation of the school, the institution will always be going forward, having been given the visibility and right footings in the media and society.

“I want to encourage you to continue to project and support whoever takes over from me as Rector Federal Polytechnic Nekede. Thank you for finding time to come. Anybody that wants to succeed must depend on the press”
