Subsidy Removal: Imo NURTW receives 200 bags of rice palliative …Reaffirms support for Uzodimma’s re-election
As Imo State Government in partnership with the Federal Government flagged off the distribution of acquired food items and other relief materials meant to cushion the economic effects off fuel subsidy removal on Imolites, the National Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW Imo State Chapter has received its own portion of 200 bags of rice.

Receiving the food item palliative with extreme joy and ecstasy at the Union State Office in Owerri on Saturday, leaders and Chairmen of the various branches of NURTW in the state extolled Governor Hope Uzodimma for being an authentic leader, reiterating their unwavering support to his 2nd term bid.
Addressing the Unionists, the number one member of NURTW, Imo state, Hon. Samuel Udeh (Ezeumuokorobia), commended and appreciated His Excellency Governor Uzodinma for considering the union to be part of the beneficiaries of this federal government gesture, promising never to turn his back on supporting his government.
Udeh, while praying for more of God’s blessings upon the governor, urged the Chairmen to endeavour they distribute the rice fairly in their various branches not minding party affiliation of members, noting that Governor Uzodinma is people’s oriented governor, who loves his people of Imo and runs an all inclusive government.
In their different speeches the unionists with utmost enthusiasm thanked the governor for proper recognition and integration of the union in his administration, saying they have not been remembered nor treated well by any other government the way Uzodimma’s government has being treating them.
Just as Mr Anaelechi Ukawunne (Obowo) stressed that drivers in the state have never been well carried along in palliative distribution and political appointment, but the emergence of Hon. Udeh as Chairman has changed the narrative through his dogged and selfless leadership.
Describing Udeh as an exceptional leader with impeccable character, Ukawunne pledged his continued support to the leadership of Udeh, even as he appealed to fellow leaders of the Union to give the Chairman the necessary support needed for the overall progress of the group in the state. He advised them to distribute the rice carefully, making sure it gets to members at the grassroot without shortchanging anyone.
Also Comrade Donald thanked the youthful chairman for being a good leader to them all, saying he is a reformer whose administration has brought no evil nor threat from the government to the union just favour due to his integrity, transparency and sincere support to the government of Uzodinma, adding that as long as the chairman continues to take the governor as his project they too as members of NURTW will continue to take him as their project.
On behalf of the women wing of NURTW in the state, Comrade Ogechi Nnadi, Secretary, said Udeh in his administration has brought women of the association to limelight, influenced them positively and made sure the union is transformed and rebranded to be seen as professionals no longer touts, assuring him and the governor of their full backing.
