As Muslims celebrate Eid- EL- Fitri feast, Mrs NNeoma Ifeoma Ndukwu (Ugosinachi) who is the Chairman, Interim Management Committee, Orlu local government area, Imo State, has heartily felicitated with them.
This felicitation to Muslims at Eid- EL- Fitri by Mrs Ndukwu was contained in a Statement released, signed and made available to News Corner Newspaper from Orlu, recently, by the Senior Assistant, Media and Communications to the Chairman, Interim Management Committee, Orlu local government area, Don Chukwuemeka Uba, KSP.
The Orlu Council Boss told them to “take the period of Eid- El- Fitri as a time of solemn reflection in furtherance of unity, positive orientation, self value, self reliance, development and economic impact to the council area and to themselves most especially”.
She charged them to see other ethnic groups at the locality as the same and eschew any form of rancour and acrimony among their hosts communities while maintaining peace, orderliness and cordiality.
Ndukwu reminded the “Muslims that this season calls for sacrifice and prayers and should not be taken as a time of war and bickering to avoid a crack in the already existing peace among them and others”.
Ndukwu, who is also a Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Odidika Uzodimma, highlighted that “Eid- EL- Fitri calls for sacrifice in spirit and in mind which will enable them to know the true meaning of obedience, selfless sacrifice and love for one another as exhibited by Prophet Ibrahim Mohammed who willingly offered his only Son, Ishmael, for sacrifice to God upon whose birth is being celebrated today: Eid-EL- Fitri”.
Even as she told them to mark the event with happiness, Ndukwu appealed to them to carry out all the precautionary measures toward the fight against Coronavirus Pandemic by washing their hands on running water before entering the Mosques, using face marks, ensuring that they maintain physical distancing and thorough hygiene, stating that observance to these measures is to their own advantage and that of the public.
She stressed that “obedience is better than sacrifice”.
Ndukwu who extended the Covid -19 Palliatives to the Muslim Community, reminded them to use the feast to reflect on their lives while endeavouring to obey constituted authorities.
