Dr. Gab Onyekuru: the best choice for Ikeduru 2019 state constituency –Nelson, Ifeanyi reveals

Nothing has ever fitted into its place in all walks of life than a square peg in a square hole and prior to the 2019 elections proper, the electorate has continued to look out for the very best, examinng the credibility of the numerous candidates vying for elective posts across the country.

In the foregoing, the good people of Ikeduru area of Imo state has called for complete support and election of one of their own, Dr. Gabriel Onyekuru who they strongly believe will offer them credible and accessible representation in the Imo State House of Assembly.

The people made the resounding call during broad consultations made by the renowned academia in the area before and after the primaries of the All Progressives Gland Alliance which earned him the flag bearer of the party for Ikeduru state constituency in the 2019 elections.

  • Dr. Gabriel Onyekuru was born to the family of Godfrey and Maria Onyekuru ofUzoagbo lkeduru, lmo State in 1963.

  • He grew up right In the village and experienced firsthand the difficulties of a child growing up in a war condition Nigerian Biafra civil war of 1966 to 1970.
  • Young Gabriel was to miss a year of his elementary education to help the mother tend to the youngest of the siblings, just after the devastating war. He however got back to school and completed his elementary education in 1976. Gabriel gained admission the same year into secondary school and completed his secondary education in 1981.With no sponsorship into higher institution of learning in sight, Gabriel embraced the world of work as a teen to carter for the entire family.
  • In Delattre Bezons Nig Ltd (DBN), a multinational oil servicing company in Nigeria, the French and British expatriates found in him a bright young fellow with potential. He was therefore given the opportunity to learn t through the many administrative departments in the organization, both in Nigeria and in France. ( He eventually rose to the position of Administration and Accounts Manager in 1995 (first Nigerian in the company). He helped Delattre Bezons Nig. Limited (DBN) to grow from a relatively small company to one of the biggest oil and gas servicing companies in Nigeria. He distinguished himself in the field of management while serving.

  • Still at work, He enrolled into Accounting program at University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria, and completed that in 1995.
  • Thirsty of education, he further enrolled for Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management at the prestigious Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) and completed the program in 1999.
  • Gabriei joined his alma mater, FUTO as a lecturer and coordinator of the university’s outreach program in the city of Port Harcourt. He performed so well at the center that his center was rated among the best satellite campuses in Nigeria before their proscription by Nigerian Universities Commission (NUC}in 2001.
  • During this period also, His family had opened an international school (Primary and Secondary) in the city’ of Port Harcourt. At the university center, he found himself working with some of the best professors in Africa. This reinforced his decision to obtain a Doctorate Degree in order to make a meaningful impact in human development.

  • He proceeded to the United States of America in 2001 in pursuit of further education. He studied fora Master’s degree in Human Resources Development at the famous Webster University, St. Lodis,‘ Missouri and completed the program in 2002. ‘
  • In 2002, same year, he moved over to one of the best universities in urban education: Texas Southern University, Houston, Texas,.for a master cum doctorate in Counselor Education. He completed the Ed.D program in May, 2007.

  • While in the United States he worked with Jefferson Consultants, Houston, a firm of Counselors, among other employers. He was a certified teacher in the state of Missouri, and also a Certified Anger Management Facilitator in the State of California.
  • He was the coordinator of Houston Prep School in Nigeria, Africa.
  • He is a Director of The Mervyn Hotels, Dyigbo, Rivers State of Nigeria.
  • He Was the Managing Director. of Agless Management Company Limited, a Nigerian-French oil and gas management firm of consultants.

In Nigeria, he is bringing his experience to hear by expanding the international schools owned by his family in Port Harcourt and Abuja He is also developing new schools in Lagos, Abia State, his home state Imo and other parts of Africa.

Dr Gabriel Onyekuru has his eyes on technical education as he believes that Africa cannot move on in technological development without a grip in technical education.
