Former lawmaker urges constituents on voters registration
By Chigozie Uzosike…
The former lawmaker that represented Ahiazu Mbaise state constituency at the Imo State House of Assembly, Ichie Ken Agbim, PhD on Monday called on the people of his area to take advantage of the ongoing continuous voters registration to ensure they prepare themselves for the next election year.
Agbim who spoke to journalists in Owerri said, “The only civil weapon you have to change and bring on board the kind of leadership you desire is the ballot papers. You can use it when you are eligible to vote and determine the choices you make”.
“The economic wellbeing of any electorate resolves around the political decision they take during elections. Take advantage of the INEC ongoing continuous voters registration and correct any anomalies or challenge you have during last election to enable you vote candidates of your choice”.

The former minority leader who performed well at Imo House of Assembly, pointed out that he is impressed that his constituents have become political savvy and will no longer allow themselves be swayed by the filthy lucre of politics. “Until the decision to elect a leader lies on the capacity to deliver and not clothed in emotive voting, alot of dividend of democracy may not be seen”.
Dr. Agbim called on the people of Ahiazu/Ezinihitte federal constituency to key into the ongoing continuous voters registration and enhance their voting strength. “The relevance you will command during elections depends on the largeness of your votes”. “The only legal tools you have to change and vote a leader of your choice is the ballot papers. Apart from the ballot papers, your participation at the election amounts to violence and violence is not part of electoral process”.
He warned electorate to run away from the temptation of going to the polling units without their ballot papers/voters cards as doing so will endanger the process and lands one in trouble. “Stay away from thinking otherwise in elections without your voters cards”.
The former Minority Leader also urged his constituents to resist the temptation of selling their votes for pittance but always strive to elect people based on their conviction that the elected will offer better leadership and always place the interest of the people over personal gains and enrichment. He also urged voters to always stand to defend their votes and make it count.
