FG to make Nigerian Goods, Services acceptable in International Market -UNIDO
The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO) has in a three day Media Capacity Building workshop for the sustainability of the National Quality infrastructure Project that ended in Lagos called on the Federal government to make Nigerian goods and Services acceptable in the International Market.
The workshop was aimed at educating Nigerians on the need to produce standard and quality products which could be accepted in the International Market.
In a lecture entitled “The Effect of Sub-Standard Products” the UNIDO Technical Adviser, Dr. Shaukat Malik said that if any food produced in Nigeria could not be consumed in any European country, the product is sub standard and would not be accepted in the International Market.
Dr. Malik said that the UNIDO Campaign for food safety started since 2014 and hopes to realize its objective this year.
He said the organization had launched the National Quality Infrastructural Project for Nigeria and visited some States in the country for the purpose.
Another expert, Mr. Stephen Cross decried a situation where Nigerian goods and Services did not have recognized accreditation while some African countries like Kenya, Egypt, Ethiopia, South Africa and Tunisia have theirs certified by International standard.
