Imo NUJ Chairman, Chris Akaraonye Sends Special Message to Christians on Easter

The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Imo State Council, Comrade Chris Akaraonye felicitates with Christian faithfuls across the world on the commemoration of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
Comrade Akaraonye in the message to Christians on behalf of Imo journalists said Easter is an all-important aspect of Christianity and mankind, urging faithfuls to always take the season seriously.
He noted the season to be a moment of sober reflection on the ultimate love of God for mankind showcased by the death of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.
“My dear colleagues and fellow Imo citizens. It is my pleasure to felicitate with each and everyone of you on this auspicious occasion of 2020 Easter celebration”
“Every year, immediately after the Lenten period, Christians all over the world celebrate the redemptive work of Jesus Christ in his death and resurrection on Easter Sunday. His death and eventual resurrection is the hope of mankind for by that singular sacrifice, Christ reconciled mankind to God the Father”
Imo NUJ Chairman who stressed the devastating effect of Coronavirus in the entire world and how Journalists in line of their duty are always exposed to the harsh challenges posed by diseases, wars and political violence among others, prayed God’s intervention in the pandemic ravaging the world while charging them not to relent in their works and efforts to contain the virus but always keep hope alive.
“As we celebrate again this year, we shall not lose sight of challenges confronting mankind and journalists in particular. The COVID-19 PANDEMIC no doubt is a challenge that has rocked the peace and developmental march of the globe”
“I urge all journalists in Imo State Council to celebrate Easter with hope of a better society. A better Imo is possible if all hands are put on deck. I urge you all to carry on with your duties professionally”
Comrade Akaraonye called on Imo Governor Hope Uzodinma to urgently support Journalists and the good people of the state by offering them safety kits and palliatives to aid their works as well as cushion the challenges and effects of Stay at Home and Coronavirus pandemic.
“I call on our Governor, His Excellency Sen Hope Uzodinma as well as other leaders and good spirited individuals to assist journalists in Imo state with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and other palliatives as journalists are always at the frontline, scouting for information and disseminating same to the public”
He advised journalists to abide by the safety measures and instructions of the Federal and state governments as well as experts at all times.
“Journalists should always take precaution and observe safety measures to stay safe. Most importantly, remember the reason for the Easter season”
“God will keep us all in safety as we whither the storm of this dreaded Corona Virus to the Glory of God. Happy Easter celebration!”
