FEDPOLYNEK: Dr. Igbokwe Clears 80% Backlog of Over 50,000 Unmobilized Students

Upon assuming office less than four months ago, the 9th Substantive Rector of Federal Polytechnic Nekede (Fedpolynek), Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe, inherited a pressing challenge: over 50,000 students were yet to be mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). This situation, which had caused significant concern, prompted immediate action from her administration to address the issue.

During the recent courtesy visit by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Rector invited the Deputy Director of Admissions, Mr. Victor Irechukwu, to provide an update on the NYSC mobilization efforts.

Mr. Irechukwu reported significant progress, noting that the challenges hindering the upload of student data to the JAMB platform had been resolved. He confirmed that 80% of the backlog had been cleared, with students now being mobilized, and assured that the remaining 20% would be resolved promptly. He expressed gratitude to the Rector for her relentless efforts in achieving these results.

In her remarks, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Igbokwe commended Mr. Irechukwu for his dedication, including working tirelessly to delete and re-upload over 50,000 student records on the JAMB dashboard. She revealed that resolving the mobilization issue required multiple trips to Abuja within her short tenure to engage with JAMB and NYSC officials. The Rector proudly announced to the NANS delegation that, as reported by Mr. Irechukwu, Fedpolynek graduates are now being mobilized for national service.

Dr. Mrs. Igbokwe reassured the Fedpolynek community of her commitment to repositioning the institution as one of Nigeria’s top polytechnics, even in the face of challenges. She called on all stakeholders to join hands in building a dream institution where every system functions seamlessly.
