Federal Polytechnic Nekede Expands Printing Press with Xerox Digital Press
- Set to print customized answer booklets for students
The Rector, Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Engr. Dr. M.C. Arimanwa has expanded the institution’s printing press with the recent acquisition of a Xerox digital press. This is in line with the Rector’s digitization and innovation policy which drives excellence in all areas of life in the polytechnic.

The latest feat has boosted the capacity of the press to undertake large-scale productions. Accordingly, Management has taken a historic decision to customize examination answer booklets.
With this development, only students who have duly paid their fees would have their booklets printed with their names and registration numbers.
The printing of the booklets, according to reports, would maximize cost and enhance efficiency. It is also projected to sanitize examination administration in the polytechnic.
Above all, the new digital press would enhance the security of materials deployed for examinations. The new multi-million naira Xerox Press is expected to add to the internally generated revenue of the polytechnic as it is set to run quality commercial printing productions.

According to the flier of the devise, the Xerox Versant 280 Press is “The all-in-one, ever-evolving, field-proven profit builder. Reimagined to deliver everything you need in a mid-production press.”
In his view, the Director of Physical Planning Unit of the polytechnic, Arc. Ikenna Opara stated that the press would add immense value to the system. According to him, “The press would guarantee a seamless customization of students’ answer booklets which is a great feat in examination administration.
“It will also guarantee efficiency, as only students who have paid school fees would have their booklets printed. The school will no longer pay heavily for its paper materials either for office use or examination administration. In addition, the printing press would boost the revenue base of the polytechnic.”
Reports indicate that the Federal Polytechnic Nekede is about the first higher institution in South East to customize examination answer booklets.
According to Arc. Opara, the polytechnic has set a pace for other institutions to follow. “I tell you, other higher institutions around are looking up to us to successfully launch this project because the Federal Polytechnic Nekede will always lead while others follow .”
