Appreciation Message From Federal Medical Center, Okigwe To Governor Uzodimma
We, the Management and Staff of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Okigwe heartily express our profound gratitude and appreciation to the Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma (Onwa Oyoko) for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to healthcare development and the wellbeing of the people of Imo State.

The recent Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and the Imo State Government for the takeover and upgrade of the Okigwe General Hospital, to a Federal Medical Centre is a landmark achievement that will strengthen healthcare delivery and expand access to specialist medical services in the state.
Our immense gratitude goes to His Excellency for the warm reception and hospitality extended to our esteemed Honourable Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako, and his delegation, as well as for aligning the state with the healthcare vision and policies of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, thereby advancing healthcare delivery and development in the state.

This milestone demonstrates Governor Uzodimma’s resolve to prioritize healthcare and position Imo State among the league of flagship states making substantial progress in healthcare performance through improved infrastructure, enhanced service delivery, and expanded access to quality healthcare for its citizens.
Through strategic initiatives such as the Imo State Health Insurance Programme, massive investments in health facilities across the state, and upward review of salaries of health workers, the Governor has shown that he understands that a healthy population is a productive population.

We are particularly grateful for the Governor’s immense support since the conversion of Okigwe General Hospital to FMC Okigwe. His commitment has laid a solid foundation for the institution’s growth and success.

As a federal tertiary health institution, FMC Okigwe remains committed to providing efficient, accessible and world-class healthcare services to the people of Imo State and beyond in line with President Tinubu’s healthcare policies, while contributing to efforts aimed at reducing medical tourism through quality specialist healthcare delivery.
Thank You Sir.
Signed:
Dr. Mrs. Emily Akuabia Nzeribe
Medical Director,
Federal Medical Center, Okigwe
