Eastern Region Women Surveyors to Hold Maiden Biennial Conference in Enugu
The Women-in-Surveying (WIS), Eastern Region, a sub-group of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), is set to hold its 1st Biennial Conference 2026 from August 26 to 28, 2026, in Enugu State.
The three-day conference, scheduled for the Amadeo Event Center, by Ebeano Tunnel, besides Elim Plaza, off Ogui Road, Enugu, will focus on the theme: “Redefining the Role of Surveyors in Nigeria’s Smart Cities and Urban Renewal Agenda.”
The conference is expected to bring together female surveyors, professionals, policymakers, academics and other stakeholders to deliberate on emerging trends in surveying, urban development and the growing demands of modern cities.
The event will feature keynote presentations, educational sessions, panel discussions, a general meeting and networking opportunities.

The President of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Surv. (Chief) Pius C. Eze, FNIS, is expected to attend as Guest of Honour, while the Honourable Commissioner for Children, Gender and Social Development, Enugu State, Mrs. Ngozi Enih, is billed as the keynote speaker.
Also expected at the conference are Surv. Leonard C. K. Ugwu, FNIS, as Guest Speaker, and Surv. Gloria I. Ohre-Adjahro, MNIS, WIS National Coordinator.
The conference will be hosted by Surv. Chime Chinelo Alinta, MNIS, Eastern Region Coordinator, while Surv. Emmanuel C. Nnamani, FNIS, NIS Chairman, Enugu State, will serve as Chief Host.
Through WIS, female surveyors have a platform to promote professional development, mentorship, networking, knowledge sharing and greater visibility for women working across different areas of surveying.
The subgroup also provides opportunities for women to contribute their expertise to discussions surrounding land administration, urban planning, infrastructure development, environmental sustainability and the application of emerging technologies.
The maiden biennial conference is significant because it provides a platform for members of the profession to examine the changing demands of surveying and its contribution to Nigeria’s urban development agenda.
The conference is expected to encourage conversations around how surveyors can leverage modern technologies and innovative approaches to provide solutions to emerging urban challenges.
It will also create an avenue for participants to exchange professional knowledge, examine challenges facing women in the profession, explore opportunities for career advancement and strengthen collaboration among surveying professionals across the Eastern Region and beyond.
The conference is expected to attract participants from the Eastern states, including Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Enugu, Imo and Rivers States.
With the theme centred on redefining the role of surveyors, the conference is poised to contribute to ongoing efforts to reposition the profession for the demands of technology-driven urban development while strengthening the voice and visibility of women within the surveying profession.
