Police Partner AGN to Promote Peace, Security in Imo
By Collins Osuji, Owerri.
Imo State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Hussaini, has assured citizens and residents of the command’s commitment to sustain relative peace in the state.
Hussaini gave the assurance, yesterday, when the leadership of Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Imo State chapter, visited him at the command’s headquarters in Owerri.
He disclosed that from investigations, those behind the security issues in the state were mainly escapees from the correctional centre in Owerri, after the attack by gunmen on Easter Monday this year.null
Others, according to the CP, are armed criminals and hoodlums, who disguise as members of the Independent People of Biafra (IPOB)/Eastern Security Network (ESN), to cause insecurity in the state.
The Imo police boss disclosed that the command had formed a special and formidable team to police every nook and cranny of the state to guarantee peace and adequate security, especially prior, during and after the yuletide.

He said: “We are determined to maintain relative peace in the state. I assure the citizens and residents of Imo that nobody is going to cause more problems here again.
“Also, as we approach the Christmas season, we will provide adequate security. We only appeal to concerned Imolites, including AGN members, to come to the aid of the police in terms of giving us intelligence information that will enable us to succeed in ridding the state of all forms of criminality in the state.”
Earlier in their remarks, the Imo AGN, led by Dr. Nneoma Ukpabi, said the visit was to applaud the CP and the command for their resilience to restore peace and normalcy in the state, after the evident security crisis in the state, months back.

She used the opportunity to solicit the assistance of the police towards the success of AGN’s coming 20th anniversary in the state from November 26 to 28, 2021.
Other members of the AGN team, Dr. Chikaodi Nwafor (Vice Chairman), Lambert Nnorom (Pioneer President of Imo AGN/Anniversary Committee Chairman), Mr. Chuma Mmeka (Director of Communications), among others, pledged the body’s partnership in helping to promote peace, unity as well as entertainment in the state.
