Who Takes The Blame? (Written by Nwosu, Prayerlife Onyinyechi)
This short but encapsulating poem by Nwosu, Prayerlife Onyinyechi seek to contrast what is now with what gloriously and ingloriously used to be.
This is aimed at bringing the populace up to speed with what noble Writer- Chinua Achebe drummed about that “Things Fall Apart and the Centre Can No Longer Hold” but in all who is to be blamed for the anomalies?
READ IN FULL THE POEM:
Gray hairs turned black
Success killed in the dark
Destinies are seen and hacked
Confronters are captured and cracked
Riches are no longer enough
The world has become tough
Life has turned rough
Even love is a secret gulf
Oh take me back to the eighties
When we had responsible ladies
That dressed to cover their bodies
To avoid the wrath of their deities
Who is your brother?
One takes pleasure in murder?
Or one who attracts minors with a biscuit?
And defiles them in secret?
Who is your sister?
One you consider a feaster?
Who comes when there is plenty?
Or who comes when it’s empty?
The world has become lame
Wealth is all they aim
All they care is fame
So, who takes the blame?
