ThankGod Emeh.

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Imo State Council has in respect to the viral news of alleged misconduct and indefinite suspension of a staff of Imo Broadcasting Corporation, IBC, Barr Vivian Ottih in the media written Governor Uzodinma to intervene and put a lasting solution to the whole development.
Imo NUJ expressed worry over the suspension of the IBC staff who doubles as the Chairperson of National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ in the state and the dust it has raised across bounds said though the union has not received any report on the true position from Ms Otti or IBC Chapel of the union, it is its core responsibility to intervene in such matters concerning it’s members.
The Union in the letter to Governor Uzodinma on 25th May, 2020 and signed by the State Council Chairman of NUJ , Chief Chris Akaraonye and Secretary, Juliet Dim urged the governor to use his good office to settle the dusts raised by the suspension saga as the father of the state.
“As a union, it is our core responsibility to look into issues that affect any of our member as their welfare is of utmost concern to us”
“However, much as neither Comrade Vivian Ottih nor NUJ, IBC Chapel has informed the Union on the alleged face off between her and IBC management, the union wishes to appeal to Your Excellency to use his fatherly disposition through the Honourable Commissioner for Information, Hon. Mbadiwe Emelumba, to look into the alleged misconduct with a view to tampering justice with mercy”, Imo NUJ appealed.
According to Imo NUJ, “We are passionate with this appeal more over as our leader and NUJ National President, Comrade Chris Isiguzo had also sued for peaceful resolution of the matter. It is said that to err is human but to forgive is divine”
“While we look forward to a detailed report from NUJ, IBC Chapel and Comrade Vivian Ottih on the issue, we promise to do whatever is necessary to ensure its amicable resolution”, the revered union stressed.
The Union also expressed appreciation to the Governor for revitalizing the moribund state owned newspaper which was relatively neglected over the years by previous administrations while commending the Information Commissioner for spearheading the rehabilitation of the outfit.
“Your Excellency, the union is grateful that our colleagues and members are now happy with the revival of the flagship news media in the East, The Statesman Newspapers, which has now become a daily news tabloid”
“We wish to commend the Commissioner for Information, Hon. Mbadiwe Emelumba, who is also a professional journalist, for his interventions that made this development a reality”
The leadership of Imo NUJ prayed for the more vision to drive full democracy dividends to the people, assuring full co-operation of media practitioners in the state to the state government.
“Your Excellency, Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists and the entire journalists in the state are assuring you of our usual cooperation in order to realise the Imo of our collective dream”
