Oganihu Eziudo doles out educational materials to students

In her contribution to improving quality education in Eziudo Ancient Town of Ezinihitte Mbaise LGA of Imo State, a renowned organization, Oganihu Eziudo Development Association has donated educational materials to public school students of the town.

Speaking during the first ever education initiative program that took place at Central School Eziudo over the weekend, the President of Association, Chief Ezeokonko Wise Ibeji who was represented by the Vice President, Chief Chibuzo Nnorom noted, “​Today is not about giving bags, writing materials, exercise books, and other things. But is about investing in the future of Eziudo”.

“​Our association believes strongly in education as one of the most important instruments for transforming individuals, families, and community.
​When we support a child in any school, we are not only helping that child today, we are building future professionals, teachers, professors, doctors, entrepreneurs, engineers, technocrats, responsible citizens who will take over the administration, support, and building of Eziudo”.

“​This is our reason for introducing our educational initiative called “Catch Them Young, Build Our Future, Transform Eziudo”.
​We deliberately chose the word “Catch Them Young” because the foundation of a child’s future begins early. If we give our children the right encouragement, learning materials, discipline, opportunities, and support at this stage of life, we increase their chances of achieving their dreams”.

Nnorom pointed out that, “​The school materials we are presenting today may appear simple, but to a child, a brand-new school bag, exercise books, pencils, pens, and other learning materials can mean something much greater. They can create excitement about school, restore confidence, and remind our children that their community believes in them”.

“​To parents, we say: You are our partners. We cannot transform Eziudo without your support. Please encourage your children to attend school regularly, study harder, respect their teachers, and develop their character.
​To our headteachers, we salute your commitment and sacrifice. You are in the front shaping the next generation of Eziudo indigene. Oganihu Eziudo Development Association recognizes that providing materials alone is not enough. We must continue to work together to create an environment where our children can learn, grow, and excel”.

“​To our community leaders, education officers, PTA leaders, we thank you for honoring our invitation. Your presence demonstrates that the education of our children is a collective responsibility.
​And to our children and pupils: This program is for you. We have done it today, bear in mind it will be your turn to do it in the future. Please take your education serious, dream big, believe in yourselves, listen to your parents and teachers, work hard and do not allow your present circumstances to determine your future”.

“​One day, some of you may become doctors, lawyers, teachers, engineers, business leaders, public servants, bankers, and community leaders. And when the day comes, remember your journey started here in Eziudo.
​As an association, we are committed to doing our own part. We believe that development is not only about roads or buildings; it is also about human capital development. If we educate our children, we are building the most important infrastructure of our community—the human capital that will sustain Eziudo now and in the future”.

“​I therefore appeal to our sons and daughters of Eziudo at home and in diaspora to support this initiative. Let us make education a shared responsibility and ensure that no child is left behind because he or she lacks basic learning materials. ​Today, we are starting with five community primary schools. We hope that our members, parents, community leaders, government, and well-wishers will see in this initiative the love and concern we have. This initiative will also grow from strength to strength”.

The following schools benefitted from the Oganihu Eziudo education initiative, Central school, Town school Eziudo, Community school, Group school and Community school Amakam, Eziudo.

In his vote of thanks, a member of the Board of Trustees of Oganihu Eziudo, Mr. Donald Erondu urged the students to make effective use of the materials so provided. “Let the donation by the association inspire and encourage you to take your studies serious”.

He encouraged teachers to ensure effective pedagogical teaching that will impact on the students because according to him, “Whatever character the teachers inculcate in the students will go a long way “. He admonished the students on the need to become good students by respecting their teachers and parents.

He called on other stakeholders in Eziudo to emulate Oganihu Eziudo by being intentional in the development of Eziudo.
