“To Make Imo Unsafe” & Ethelbert Okere’s Hallucination By Ikenna ONUOHA, Mnipr
The article with the above caption was written by my in-law from Ngor Okpala LGA, a commercial writer and publisher, Ethelbert Okere. One thing I know about Mr Okere is that, apart from being my in-law, he can write or publishes for anyone that can pay his bills irrespective of the risk.
This is why no person is surprise whenever he writes, conjures and churns out any gibberish. In the paid article published on the back page of Horn Newspapers of Friday Edition, September 1, 2023, Ethelbert Okere made lots of assumptions and innuendos that are abstract and at variance with the current realities in the state.
A situation where Ethelbert Okere queried what the PDP Governorship candidate in the state, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu did to quell insecurity at its formative stage when he is not the Chief Security Officer of the state to stand a chance to tell Imo people how he would make the state safe is a height of ignorance and sheer negligence.
It is embarrassing, repulsive and smacks of neivety for a person of Ethelbert Okere, an appointee of several administrations in the state to kick against the PDP’s sincere motive and readiness to secure and rescue the dislocated people of Orlu East, Orlu, Orsu, Oru West, Oguta, Ohaji Egbema, Ngor-Okpala, Okigwe, Onuimo, Obowo, Ihitte Uboma and Ehime Mbano from the cage of insecurity the present government has thrown them.
Knowing Ethelbert Okere as a man with requisite experience and knowledge of various successive administrations in the state, one would without mincing words query what came over him, how he becomes a Judas and thereafter, regrets his position as it affects the state.

It is shameful for a person of his caliber, having being existing since over fifty years and participated in previous governments in the state to argue like a hungry appointment seeker, it therefore means that Ethelbert Okere has lost focus and sound morality. In fact, to have served prominently in various administrations in the state, he is in a position to tell Imo people the truth how insecurity increased beyond measure under the current Hope Uzodinma’s led APC government.
Yes, the PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu is coming to make Imo Safe Again after the present government which Ethelbert Okere is a major beneficiary tactically triggered an unrest society to be able to get funds from the Federal Government.
If those in power who
How this hasty decision of APC and its candidate degenetated to this level and displaced them from rendering dividends of democracy is still a mystery.
That the PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu is coming to correct the mistakes of the outgoing APC and Uzodinma’s administration should be applauded by Ethelbert Okere and his likes, and should not allow such genuine decision to make him loose sleep.
If someone like Ethelbert Okere is afraid and angry that PDP and its candidates, Senator Anyanwu and his Deputy, Rt Hon Jones Onyereri are ready and desirous of making Imo Safe Again, it therefore means that they are enjoying an unsafe Imo.
Asking a man with his private ideas, contacts and experiences to unveil his strategies on how he intends to make Imo Safe, is to create room for the candidate of APC and his cronies to steal the idea and reduplicate same in their manifesto if any.
It is also ridiculous, preposterous, uncalled for and awkward for Ethelbert Okere to struggle to divert the attention of Imo people from the good intentions of the PDP Governorship candidate to secure the state from the harsh, excruciating and insensitive administration of APC in the state simply because, he is earnestly hoping to be given an appointment.
If Ethelbert Okere should tell the people of the state the truth, let him beat his chest and swear that what is happening in Imo today under the current government also happened in previous administrations he served as appointee?
The truth of the matter is that Imo state is bleeding, dislocated, gruesomely injured and heavily cut since Uzodinma and APC hijacked the mantle of governance in the state, any other grammar, write ups, blackmail, propaganda or speech made by any benefactor should be seen as a direct mock on Imo people.
Ethelbert Okere should believe it or leave it that the PDP Governorship candidate, Senator Samuel Nnaemeka Anyanwu is highly prepared, and widely consulted on how to unveil the simple solution to the Imo’s challenges.
A reasonable person expects Ethelbert Okere and his likes to humbly seek for clarification on how such genuine decision to restore peace, inject a robust economy, impact on citizenry, improve our education, agriculture, health and inter-states relation for tutoring, instead of barging into the privacy of another party.
