Damaged Pipe-Borne Water: Owerri Residents Appeal For Help

Residents of Owerri Municipal Council, have appealed to the government of Imo State to urgently fix their damaged Pipe-borne Water so that they are relieved from scarcity of good water.
They begged the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma, to come to their aid while rehabilitating or replacing the bursted pipes, facilities they regretted got destroyed during Rochas Okorocha’s administration especially during his Urban Renewal Policy that brought untold hardship in the State.
The people commended the Governor for restoring water in Owerri Urban.
Speaking to this newspaper, one of the residents, Apostle Izunna Okolie, of Community of HaShem, Ben Simeon Synagogue, Owerri, hailed the Governor for restoring water in the city with the construction of roads, drawing the attention of the Governor to reconstructing the dilapidated roads across the State to ease movement and encourage productivity.
Izunna pointed to the road that leads to Dan Anyiam Stadium and Umunkwo Street, Ikenegbu Extension, as being highly dilapidated, frowning that bad road have been a factor contributory to scarcity of Pipe Borne Water at the area.
He said “if all these damaged roads can be put in good shape, it will assist us in this era of Covid 19, a disease which breeds in a dirty and humid environment.
Some of the affected areas of these bursted Pipes are located at MCC, by NYSC Secretariat, Old Okigwe Road Park, Mbari, by Item Street, Hon.Uche Nwole Street, Plot 247 Ikenegbu Layout, Umez Eronin, by Bishop Crowder Street, Ikenegbu, MCC Road, by Chukwuma Nwoha Road, by Gate of the Estate.
Including, Under Nwaorie River Bridge,, Emirate Hotel, Opposite Everyday Supermarket, Last Roundabout, World Bank Housing Estate, Law Nwankwo, by NUT Port Harcourt Road and House of Assembly Junction, by Port Harcourt Road.
However, Engr. Celestine Ugoanyanwu, State Water Board boss, said that government would hearken to their plea.
