Kpakpando Age Grade donates modern school hall to Eziudo Ancient Town
By Chigozie Uzosike…

In fulfillment for the requirement of induction into Eziudo Central Age Grade also known as Agbazuruagbazu Ebiri Eziudo, the newest age Grade, Kpakpando has commissioned and donated a modern school hall located at Amakam Eziudo to Eziudo Ancient Town.
Speaking to newsmen during the rally across the whole villages in Eziudo to create awareness on the 26th December, the Chairman of Kpakpando Age Grade, Comrade Anokwuru Maclord Uchechukwu said, “Sometimes in July 2023, the executive of Kpakpando Age Grade assembled at Amakam with the executive of Agbazuruagbazu led by Nze Sir Onyekachi Osuagwu and that of Aladinma Amakam for presentation and signing of the project. My driving force and motivation is that we want to use this project as one of the numerous ways to give back to our Eziudo community.

Comrade Maclord
“Infrastructure is directly linked to the economic development of a community, it’s the foundation of every community. In the school setting, it acts as a catalyst to a conducive teaching-learning environment. Poor Infrastructure in education is one of the leading deteriorating factors to qualify education, be it dilapidated classrooms, offices, staff rooms and use of pit toilets, empty laboratories among others “.

The Kpakpando chairman continued by saying that the Age Grade was motivated to donate the school hall because, “Infrastructural problems in schools not only affect the right of education, it as well ensures the right to safety, health of learners and that of teachers”. The effects of poor infrastructure in schools can also be seen in learners dropouts rate and low teachers retention rates. In Eziudo for example, lack of infrastructure has resulted in our children leaving Eziudo community to acquire education elsewhere.

Anokwuru called on the leadership of the Amakam community to make good use of the school hall while urging other good spirited individuals to help build more schools so that the children can be attracted to go to school.

On 27th of December, the chairman of Kpakpando Age Grade with other members of the age Grade, in their beautiful attire matched to the Central School Eziudo with the chairman carrying the ‘Udu’ which is symbol of peace and maturity for the formal outing and initiation of the age Grade by Agbazuruagbazu and Eziudo Central Development Union.
Anokwuru appreciated members of the building committee, those who sacrificed to the successful completion of the project.

Recall that the school hall project built and donated to the school gained government attention from foundation laying to commission day, which prompted IMSUBEB to present a certificate to Kpakpando Age grade through their chairman on 27th December. This is historic as it has never happened that government has to endorse a project of an age Grade in Eziudo Ancient Town.
