ORLU SENATE: A Paradigm Shift With NRM Candidate, Chief Stephen C.Y. Uwaezuoke (Part 1)
By Chuks Nwokeji (08034082725)…
Prominent sons of Orlu Zone had represented the Senatorial District in the past, ranging from Senator Frances Arthur Nzeribe, of blessed memory, Senator Osita Izunaso, Senator Hope Uzodinma and the incumbent Senator, Owelle Anayo Rochas Okorocha. They all did their best in their own capacity depending on the opportunities they had, circumstances or challenges that saddled their era.
Observation about the past and present personalities that represented the Zone, revealed that they are conventional politicians who paid little or no attention to people oriented actions and focused more on politically motivated actions.
Another election is by the corner, some conventional politicians have surfaced again warming up to represent the people as if the seat is for professionals in politicians who have done little or nothing for the betterment of the zone and not for professionals in politics.
When a recent unbiased assessment of past representatives were taken by Media Observers and Political Analysts, actions and inactions of the past senators directly or indirectly contributed to the current status of stagnation and retrogression seen in Imo West Senatorial District.
As the 2023 Orlu Senatorial poll draws near, it presents a golden opportunity for the electorate to champion a paradigm shift with their votes. Many illustrious sons of Orlu Zone have indicated interest to occupy the senatorial seat, candidates like Chief Stephen C.Y. Uwaezuoke of National Rescue Movement, NRM, Chief Charles Ahize of Labour Party, LP known as Akpuruka na Orlu, Senator Izunaso and others.
Unfortunately; from sampled opinion poll majority of the good people of Orlu Zone are not really comfortable with the presence of some candidates, they see them as professional politicians or part of the failed political leadership. They have also expressed concern about a candidate they viewed as a personality with questionable character.
People are entitled to their opinion. Although all the contestants have right to vote and be voted for, but it goes beyond that, if we truly want to move the zone forward. Professionalism, reputation, capacity, capability, accountability honesty, credibility and transparency should be the focal point for any personality to be considered for this all important paradigm shift.
Considering the level of insecurity, abandonment and under-development staring Orlu Zone and her people on the face, nobody needs a sooth sayer to tell Orlu people that now is the time for a paradigm shift from the old order to a new order and from all indications, Chief Stephen C.Y Uwaezuoke, the Senatorial Candidate of National Rescue Movement, NRM is that face of a New Orlu Senatorial Zone.
A focus on the antecedents of Chief Uwaezuoke of National Rescue Movement Party reveals that he is real agent of change the people desire and deserve.
Judging from his background, he is not a conventional politician or professional politician who have embezzled government money. He is a decent and reputable professional with wealth of experience for productive and dramatic impacts for the growth and development of Orlu Zone.

From his academic background, he studied in the United States of America, where he obtained Bachelor’s of Science in Economics and Master’s Degree in Computer Science. He has thought in the University and worked as Computer Analysts, Database Administrator, and Team Leader.
His purposeful leadership style of credibility and productivity is seen in his activities as the Founder and the First President of Association of Nigerians in Southern University, Baton Rouge, Publicity Secretary – Association of Nigerian Professionals in United States; Vice President – Abia/Imo Association in New Orleans, Affiliate President – Orlu Regional Assembly, USA; Chairman – Orlu Regional Assembly – Political Action Committee.
There is no doubt that 2023 Orlu Zone Senatorial Election, is an era of fresh air. The deaf, dumb and blind can testify that there is obvious need for a paradigm shift and it calls for a personality with capacity, willingness, accountability, probity and integrity.
Looking at the background, antecedents and unquestionable reputation of Chief Stephen Uwaezuoke, the Senatorial Candidate of National Rescue Movement, it is crystal clear that he is that fresh air and paradigm the people of Orlu Zone desire and deserve at this auspicious and critical time in order to truly and fully rescue Imo West Senatorial District.
