NUJ VP, Ezenwa Adiuku Salutes Workers, Urges Improved Welfare, Safety for Journalists on Workers’ Day
ThankGod Emeh…
The Vice President of Zone C (South East) of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Ezenwa Adiuku, has congratulated workers across the South East region on the occasion of the 2026 Workers’ Day celebration, commending their resilience and contributions to national development.
In a goodwill message issued to mark the May 1 celebration, Adiuku praised Nigerian workers for their dedication and commitment despite the prevailing economic challenges and changing workplace realities.

He noted that Workers’ Day provides an opportunity to celebrate the invaluable role workers play in driving the growth of society.
The NUJ leader paid special tribute to journalists and media professionals, describing their unwavering commitment to truth, accountability and public enlightenment as a cornerstone of democracy in Nigeria.

He acknowledged that media practitioners continue to carry out their duties amid safety concerns, economic pressure and the evolving demands of the media landscape.
According to him, the sacrifices of journalists—often unseen and underappreciated—remain vital to nation-building, good governance and the preservation of democratic values.
Adiuku urged media practitioners to remain resolute in professionalism, integrity and courage, stressing the need for journalists to continue amplifying the voices of citizens and holding leaders accountable while contributing to the unity and development of the region and the nation.
He also called on governments and employers to prioritise the welfare, safety and professional development of workers, particularly journalists, whose role in shaping public discourse, he said, cannot be overstated.
The NUJ Zone C Vice President expressed optimism that collective efforts by workers, governments and employers would help build a stronger, fairer and more prosperous society for all.
