The Vice Chancellor of Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Oti, has been lauded for not interfering in the Student’s Union Government Elections recently conducted in the institution.

The commendation was made by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) through the Ex-officio, Comr. Anderson Uwakwe and the NANS South East Secretary General, Comr. Alfred Jacinta, who stormed FUTO with over one hundred stakeholders to ensure a successful transition of power in FUTO SUG.
Uwakwe appreciated the “Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Oti, for not hijacking the SUG Elections and allowing due process take the center stage since inception of her administration as the Vice Chancellor of the University.
He stated that the Nigerian Students Welfare has remained a top priority in the VC’s administration, saying “this can only be done by a mother who loves her children passionately”.
The NANS stakeholders applauded the process of coordination, peace, and transparency throughout the election process, appealing to other institutions in Imo State and South East in general to adopt FUTO Students Leader’s Model for community peace, unity, and progress of students unionism.
However, the Dean of Students Affairs, Prof. Orji Chikwendu, received a Vote of Confidence by the leadership of NANS for his doggedness, capacity and leadership prowess in the discharge of his duties.
While addressing newsmen immediately after the elections, Prof. Orji, appreciated everybody’s efforts and commitment towards the successful elections, most importantly the DSS, NANS Leaders, Students stakeholders, SUG Staff Adviser, the Man ‘O’ War, ICPC, FUTO journalists and members of the press in general for their continued support and patriotism to their institutions.
The Dean, therefore, dedicated the Award Investiture by the NANS Leadership to the Vice Chancellor of FUTO, Prof. Mrs. Nnenna Oti, for being a good administrator and academic guru.
In his words, “I am privileged to serve as the Dean of Students Affairs of FUTO under the capacity leadership of our amiable Vice-Chancellor, who has sacrificed all for the welfare of Nigerian Students, her love, and passion to building FUTO through addressing critical infrastructure and most importantly her sustainable academic policies for a greater FUTO”.
The moment of jubilation ended with a loud ‘gbosaaa’ from students and NANS Leaders.
