He disclosed this while speaking at the 2nd State Conference/Annual General Meeting, organized by Nigerian Institute of Town Planners, Imo State chapter, held in Owerri, recently.
Governor Emeka Ihedioha who was represented at the Conference by the Commissioner, stated that government is making “concerted efforts to domesticate the Imo State Urban and Regional Planning Law to give teeth to the operations and implementation of physical planning at all levels of governance in the State”.
He reminded that the “state government is not oblivious of the fact that city management thrives on effective legal framework that guides the administration and implementation of physical planning policies in any city”, challenging them to come up with new ideas to help in rebuilding Imo state which he said is a priority of the PDP led government.
While appreciating the Institute for the memorable Conference where papers were presented by resource persons, the Commissioner reiterated that “Imo state especially the capital city is having a fair share of these effects. Government is alive to these challenges and has become a willing partner to conscious efforts aimed at bequeathing a city of Owerri we can proudly call our own”.
