Gone are those days when the role of women ended in the kitchen as a wise man once said that women owe the world the task of rising into leadership with such unprecedented high performance that will bring a lasting mark if the male folk must accept the challenge to wake up and make a difference because Politics and governance without women are like a soup without salt.

For the records, it is indeed a fact that in world history; high developmental strides, politics, and governance have witnessed the prominent footprints of women, who were not only involved in pepping up the polity into victory with such an equal range of might to that of men, and with their figures in participation out-numbering that of men, With emphasis geared towards this reality of established fact that global-statistics uncovers vividly that women are currently more than men on Earth, and with their massive involvement in the entire affairs of life; “Is 30% quota enough for them?” Just food for thought… as a minute can turn things around if truly the world as a moving train is dynamic as said. Inter-alia, this perhaps vindicates why the jinx of gender inequality was broken. The likes of Indira Gandhi, Frida Khalo, Joan of Arc, Cleopatra, Margaret Thatcher (The iron woman of Britain), Jane Austin, Florence Nightingale, Marie Curie, The German-Chancellor Angela Merkel, Oprah Winfrey, Hilary Clinton, Kamara Harris, Queen Elizabeth and others who rose from the flanks to spring up surprises remains a status–quo that must be highly maintained if the anti-feminine bloc must be kept in control to respects what is equitable, fair and of good conscience.

In the words of Rev. Iyiet Edidiong who once disclosed to The Press during The International Women’s Day, that despite the fact that OUR IBIBIO-UNION never included Women in their Scholarship-Scheme, our women had risen to fill the lacunas and injurious-gaps of such gender-bias of the past. Thus, it is worthy of note that other Senatorial-Districts in Akwa Ibom State, had some in times past to the present who had risen in all works of life to this challenge, in persons like Distinguished Senator Eme Ekaette, Senator Akon Eyakenyi, Obonganwan Rita Akpan, Mrs Helen Esuene, Prof. Dorathy Ebong, Margaret King and others from those Districts, and that their performance as fore-runners were powerful attempts that have set the pace for the emergence of other credible women who are coming to break national and international records, that will make Akwa Ibom State very proud.

The People of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial-District are here left with the big challenge of proving themselves as not being against the notion of gender equality which human rights everywhere in the world upholds on prime, as The Senate-Seat (Upper Chamber) is not the exclusive reserve of Men in the Senatorial-District.

In the foregoing, a group known as ‘UBOK-UTOM ABASI’ has to this effect risen en-masse in their gratitude to Mothers and Motherhood in bringing to the podium a Woman with a Lion’s Voice, whose plans for The People of Ikot-Ekpene Senatorial-District are highly positive, all-embracing and self-explanatory to be appreciated, beginning with the problems of The Senatorial-District, which she assured in a recent closed-door interview as that which will be given attention by The FEDERAL-GOVERNMENT.

As a wife of a former Commissioner of Police, she served faithfully and rose to the National echelon of Police wife’s Association in Nigeria at Force-Headquarters, Abuja with powerful contributions which has birthed excellent reformations in the Nigeria-Police. Her pedigrees, in contributing to humanity have been internationally affirmed, owing to her involvements, donations, and support for Non-Governmental Organizations for many decades now, with extolled Excellent Awards deserving national applause, thereby standing her out as a Mother in a Million.
