Group known as Widows and Orphans Empowerment Organization, WEWE, one of the Community Sensitization Organisations, CSOs, which is funded by USAID to implement Effective Water Sanitation and Hygiene, E-WASH, has sensitized youths of Umuororonjo Community, Owerri Municipal Council, Imo State, to imbibe sense of thorough sanitation while maintaining hygiene to defeat diseases especially Coronavirus Pandemic.

The group advised the youth to always stay safe, maintain hygiene via thorough “hand washing in running water and soap for at least 20 seconds or using alcohol based(60%) and sanitizer. Keeping physical distancing with at least 20metres while correct wearing of mask in public places, appropriate use of disposable tissue while coughing or sneezing or do same into the bent elbow in the absence of tissue”.

They were further instructed on using household disinfectants to wipe at- risk surfaces (as virus survives better on hard surfaces than fabric and related coronaviruses can stay on surfaces such as metal, glass or plastic for as long as nine days), but should not touch their hands on their nose, mouth or eye especially when their hands are dirty.
