In a bold demonstration of visionary leadership and commitment to academic excellence, the Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Owerri, Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, has once again positioned the institution as a pace-setter in educational innovation with the approval of a comprehensive JAMB–CBT training programme for students of the Staff Secondary School.
The capacity-building initiative, which covered both the Junior and Senior Secondary Sections of the Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri Staff Secondary School, commenced on Wednesday and Thursday, 21st and 22nd January 2026. The programme was strategically designed to adequately prepare the students for the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination, while also equipping them with essential skills for other computer-based and online academic engagements.
The training was professionally organized and delivered by the Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), further showcasing the Polytechnic’s robust digital infrastructure and technical competence.
Sessions were held at CBT Centre 1 of the institution, where students were exposed to hands-on practical experiences in a real examination environment.
The Principal of the Staff Secondary School ensured effective participation through the representation of the Computer Teacher, who coordinated and led the students throughout the training exercise, ensuring orderliness and maximum learning outcomes.
Participants described the programme as highly beneficial, timely, and confidence boosting, expressing gratitude to the Rector and the Polytechnic management for prioritizing their academic preparedness. The teacher also commended the Rector’s foresight and the ICT Directorate’s professionalism, noting that the exposure would significantly enhance students’ performance in external examinations and digital learning platforms.
This initiative underscores the Rector’s unwavering commitment to holistic education, early academic empowerment, and technological advancement, while reinforcing the Federal Polytechnic Nekede’s reputation as an institution that nurtures excellence across all levels of learning.
Indeed, under the purposeful leadership of Dr. Mrs. Basilia Nkemdilim Igbokwe, Federal Polytechnic Nekede continues to raise the bar, preparing today’s students for tomorrow’s success.
