FEDPONEK Carnival Extravaganza: Culture, soul of every community —Dr Igbokwe
The Federal Polytechnic Nekede Community went agog on Friday, January 17th, 2025, as staff and students set aside their status to celebrate with the Rector on her 100 days in office.
The Rector who was deeply honoured and humbled by the grand celebration in her honour said, “as we gather to recognize and celebrate the richness of our diverse traditions, I am reminded of the profound role culture plays in shaping our identities and uniting us as a people”.
She reiterated that Culture is the soul of every community, the heartbeat of our shared humanity, and the bridge that connects the past, present, and future. It is through our music, dance, language, fashion, and cuisine that we tell the stories of our origins, express our values, and preserve our common heritage for generations to come.

The Rector was overwhelmed by the efforts and creativity that went into making this Cultural Day a success. The vibrant displays of art and talent, the rich diversity of traditions showcased here and the spirit of unity among all participants truly reflected the essence of who we are as a people.
She further expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the organizing committee for their meticulous planning and execution of this event. The dedication of ensuring that our culture remains vibrant and relevant is truly commendable.
The Rector didn’t fail to appreciate the performers, artisans, and contributors. She posited that the event was not just a celebration of our culture but also a call to action. “We must all take responsibility for preserving our heritage, passing on our traditions, and fostering unity in diversity. Let us use our culture as a tool for building stronger communities, promoting understanding, and inspiring progress”.
